Harry Dean, as membership development chairman, welcomed the members. Saitoh's Kelso Hollow amphitheatre, GAPS featured the premiere of their third drama, Even We Here. Even We Here is another fast moving drama with music, in much the same spirit as Y06AL, portraying a social history of the twentieth century from Wilson's declaration of war in 1917 and ending with Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon in 1999. The play completes GAR trilogy on Lincoln, his life, his legend, and now his legacy. ALWAM will open its third season Saturday, July 3, with all three productions being performed in rotation through the months of July and August. The season ends Aug. 21. In case of rain, the performance is moved to the Petersburg Senior Cit isens' caster, five minutea from New Salem. The indoor preaentation does not have the same panoramic view as outdoors, but does provide s new Intimacy with the performers. IU. 91975 The Garden In 1976, The Great American People show opened with the world premiere of Your Obedient Servant, A. Lincoln. The production received wide critical and audience acclaim and was declared Illinois' official bicentennial play by the State Leglalature. The play is a fast moving drama with music, following Lincoln's life: his rise to the presidency, his agony of office, and his effect on the American people. In 1960, GAPS premiered Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight, a play that recreate® the boyhood years of the Illinois poets, Springfield's Vachel Lindsay, Galesburg's Carl Samjburg, and Petersburg's Edgar Lee Masters, Against the backdrop of America's own coming of age in the aftermath of the Civil war, ALWAM traces the poets' struggles to capture the spirit of America in their portry, on the eve of the First World War. ALWAM was slso greeted with critical and audience acclaim, and the company received the Governor's Arts award in 1961 for the two original productions. The girls tended several dances in both Detroit and Windsor, Canada. Slugs, slong with snails, clams, and squid, belong to the mollusk family. They look like a shell-less snail, are usually grayish, and are about 14 inches long. Slugs hide in cool, moist areas during the day, emerging at night to feed on foliage. They chew triangular holes in the leeves, then crswl away, leaving a slimy trail. Knee high by the Fourth of July will normally produce a good corn crop. But 1972 is not a normal year, and June froats prevented young corn from making its usual stridss. One of the farmers hardest hit a month ago was John Hogan of Ringwood.
