HONORED AMSMCAN HARRIETT TUBMAN Harriett Tubman (1821-1913) was born a slave in Dorchester county on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Escaping to the north, she helped other slaves to freedom via the Underground Railroad. Quakers assisted her twenty journeys to collect groups of fugitives.
