In Flight I it was Nell Fidler over Dot Freund, Lynn Schmidt over Judy Smithson, Dee Overton over Floss O'Connell and Virginia Turner over Sue Martin. In Flight II Betty Strauss over Dot Christiansen, Mabel Smith over Evie Castle, Caroline Dalton over Gloria Otth with the match between Carolyn Harger and Eunice Hatch still to be played. Flight III had Carol Barnicle over Gladys Warfield, Fran Weyland over Rita Sayler, Jo Ready over Esther Jemiola and the match between Maddie Holmes and Betty Rode to be played at a later date. Last week's report found one of those gremlins slipping in and giving erroneous information which needs correcting at this point. To wit: Micki Becker won her match over Jackie Victor last week and, as a result, put Micki in the running again in Flight IV. Consequently, it was Micki over Barb Vejvoda, Fran Herrmann over Speedy Neuman and Marcy Wakitsch over Dottle Schadel. Other results found our blonde bomber, Carol Cooney, shooting low gross over the field with a 90 while Virginia Turner low netted in Class A with 70. Low putts in the-same class were 27 rolled in by Betty Phelan. That was also low putts over the field. In Class B Laverne Harpling and Mabel Smith tied for low net with 73 each while Mabel and Esther Jemiola tied for low putts of 39 each. In Class C Jo Ready low netted with 73 while a three-way tie of 32 putts each was shared by Freida Millar, Betty Wayman and Fran Weyland. In Class D Micki Becker low netted with 81 for low net over the entire field and Dottle Schadel low putted with 30. If Micki continues shooting like that she'll be moving up to Class C or B pronto. It turned into one of those extra nice days where several chip-in and bir dies were recorded. For the chip-ins there was Toots Gerstad doing it for a par on No. 3, Freida Miller on No. 4, After 20 years as • division of interna- t too si Harvest*, the Cub Cadet name and all aasets wars sold to the Cub Cadet Corporation tn February, 1991. From the Nifty Niners a report on their hole-elimination event found Lori Gausden emerging the winner with a 35, followed by Jeanne Nigbor with 37 and Dorothy Flynn with W. Lori also had low putts of 15. Playing for the first time sine eher long ab sence Peg Anderson demonstrated some of her old finesse wit a chimin on No 18. Nice to have her back in the swing of things. Shirley Nye claims that her half- inch putts on eight greens were the result of having "beveled cups" • her words Although no reason was given that may be shy Ginny Lazar was seen dumping her clubs into the trap on 13 - including her bag and cart. Tsk! Tsk! The travelling team suffered their first defeat of the season when they travelled to Chapel Hill and took only 3'v of the nine points. Momentary lapses are part of the game and tend to sharpen future play so optimism continues to be the theme. Next week the ladies will be taking time out from their regular golfing to have their Hullabaloo Day and that surely will make for Happy Golfing! Chapel Hill The results of the second round of the individual class tournament in the Tuesday Ladies League show the leaders in Class A are Dorie Freund 68. Nancy McAuliffe 70 and Corky Weber 73. Mary JaneNowak leads in Class B with 61, followed by Ruth Vines with 72 and Verna Schmitt with 73 The Class C winner is Sharon Delahanty 61, Phyllis Groaaranard 84 and Pat Bittermann 73. In some manner last weeks column mistakenly reduced Dorie Freund's real accomplishment of getting five pars in a row to three. For this misprint we apologize. Today under blue akiea, calm air currents and perfect temperatures all of us enjoyed the game of golf, even those who went plop plop-plop. From our listening bugs placed strategically in the club house after the game, we have gleaned the following Sandy Donavan's ball landed in the water on No. 9. She had to take a penalty but still chipped in and made par on the hole. Lu Stine's nemesis ware trees and bushes which at one point so tenaciously held her ball she had to pick it out. Kathy Schaeffer had a nice chip into the hole on 18. Nancy Jeffers took the hole away from Lois Anderson by chipping in on 10 for a birdie when Lois had a par Next week Louise Smh will hava all that figure work dona and wa will know the winners in our tournament. Until then keep your head down, your eye on the ball and follow through.
