The board of for McHenry County Collage is withholding payment of a con tractor's bill until work is completed. Nearly six months have passed since the architect, Wight and Co. from Downers Grove, submitted its "punch list" of items yet to be completed in and around McHenry County Collage's multi- Some fish, such as groupers and flatfish, are able to change color to match the background on which they are lying. In January, the contractors were given notice that they had until July 15 to complete their respective repairs. According to college President Robert Bartlett, all have complied except the general contractor, Fitzsimmons-Rill Inc. of Northbrook. The board is withholding 96,000 due the company until the work is finished properly and repairs are made. Andrew DeCraene, dean of business ser vices at MCC, said cracks have developed along the outer wall connected to the main building by a hallway. In addition, the roof above the hallway is leaking water. The metal flashing con necting the two roofs and the tar have come up, allowing water to seep in. Trie expense has been minimal so far, with a few damaged ceiling tiles and extra custodial work. In the multi-purpose room itself, the threshold of the service doors is not high enough. Water does not drain away outside like it should, DeCraene said, rather it flows under the door and eats away at the floor finish. The biggest job remaining is the land scaping outside the building. The contractor supposedly removed the rocks and seeded the ground, but DeCraene charges it was a poor operation. "The contractor is ignoring the problem," DeCraene said. Bartlett asked and got permission to use the money withheld for hiring someone to complete the work if Fitzsimmons-Rill does not meet the new deadline of Aug. 1. "We're simply not going to pay someone until the job is done," DeCrane said. Men may differ in opinions but they should not dispute as to facts. 5 _S I w . _ \ L ^IL I n a t t o r n e v a t i a w A B I E T O H E I P V O U W I T H : W i l l s & E s t o t c .
