Daughter Nicole went home with grandpa Kfrwan for a few days visit. . PIG ROAST FOR FAMILY REUNION Every two years the Low clan has a get-together with Lows from Wisconsin, Michigan, California and wherever. This year, they gathered at the home of Walt k Doris Low and overflowed around Patti's pool, with Alice Mae and Walt Wilcox and Bob and Sue Low co-hostessing the oc casion. A pig was put on the spit for the occasion by Ray Low - with his dad and Uncle Bob and Walt helping and lots of food was brought by all who came. Those delicious homemade cherry pies from Michigan were out of this world. But so was everything Volleyball was played by a large number off the young tofts as the pig turned on the spit. Those who dkhi't participate all buried their noees in photo albums that Alice Mae had brought of previous - reunions. Everyone enjoyed looking at thaee and thinking back to other good times and gatherings. There were a total of 42 aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters. This time araimd, there were only three smaller children; the rest were teenagers and up to senior citizens, with four generations " being represented. GOD BLESS Assure No Stall On MCC Entrance i McHenry County College President Robert Bartlett reassured trustees Thursday night that the U.S. 14 entrance project at the coDegt has not stalled *n»e project has run into aoane difficulty regarding funding. The project engineer will be coming out to begin preliminary study of the highway next week and the Illinois Department of Tran sportation has shown no indication off giving up and disallowing the second entrance on Lucas road. "They (IDOT of ficials) are moving with the revision and cost estimates and starting the engineering," Bartlett said. IDOT reversed itself after initially ruling that municipalities in MCC District 528 could use motor fuel tax funds to fund the $400,000 widening project. Raymond Harris, IDOT bureau chief for local roads and streets, said this assumption was based on a faulty interpretation of a statute. It allows nearby municipalities to use motor fuel tax funds to extend roads outside city limits upon mutual agreement. But he said the state legal department ruled the section of U.S. 14 which is targeted for work is not an extension of a municipal street. Harris confirmed that motor fuel tax funds cannot be used. The money must come out off the general fund or Bartlett said although the Village off Harvard has withdrawn its pledge for $4,800, the chaise is irrelevant as far as the college is concerned. Crystal Lake and Woodstock have reaffirmed their pledges off $20,400 and $12,000, respectively. To date, the City of McHenry has declined to participate. The county will give $80,000 toward the project and the college $200,000. IDOT is committed for about $80,000 for use in engineering, specification development, bid letting and construction supervision. This still leaves the college $27,800 short. Trustee Eugene Meyer said people are upset since they believe all other options to alleviate the congestion have not been explored. He asked Bartlett to check into the feasibility of an easement allowing an entrance on the west side of the campus from Ridgeffield road. Although this option was considered earlier and no agreement was reached, the property since has changed hands. It is unclear if such a road would save money or reduce congestion. Bartlett noted the problem concerns traffic turning across U.S. 14 and originating from the northwest. He said that he and state Rep. Dick Klemm (R-Crystal Lake) will meet with IDOT of ficials during the next two weeks and urge them to revise cost estimates and-or offer g r e a t e r f i n a n c i a l assistance.
