Doher ty's scored five unearned runs to beat the Whale's Tail 9-5 while the Fox Hole Tap won an important lS-7 victory over the Johasburg Businessmen. The Western Division pennant race shows three teams still in the running with Doherty's a game ahead of both Johns burg and Rusty Nail. All three teams play important douMehaaders this Wednesday. The Fox Hole Tap has a two game edge over West End Pub with both teams playing a doubleheader August 2 including one game versus each other. The race for third place shows Peer Inn-Jack's Snack Shop with a slim one game lead over the Whale's Tail. Both teams play their final game Wednesday with the Tail's only hope for a playoff position being a win over Johnsburg while the Snack Shop loses to Doherty's. The result would be a tie in the standings however Whale's Tail has swept its games versus Peer Inn this season and would go into the playoffs. The Rusty Nail Inn put together a 22-hit barrage, scored in every inning but the first and went on to win a stunning 16-5 victory over the Fox Hole Tap. Every Nail starter scored at least one run and all 10 players accounted for a minimum of one RBI in a great team effort. Mike Yaworski's single drove in Pete Marian Physicals Marian Central Catholic high school athletic director Hans Rokus has announced that Ihe annual Physical Night will be held Thursday, August 5 at the high school beginning at 6:00 p.m The Rusty Nain Inn from Ringwood swept the 1982 New Munster annual 12-inch softball tournament held recently in New Munster, Wisconsin by winning all four games including come-from-behind wins in both the semi-final and championship games. In the final game, the Nail broke a 5- 5 tie with a seven-run sixth inning and went on to defeat a tough Parkview (Burlington, Wis.) ballclub by a 12-7 margin Two home runs and six RBI's by Don Bentz led the charge. Jeff Meyers added three hits while Rick Wakitsch scored (three runs and tripled and singled'in four at bats. Home run power had been decisive in the first three games including a pair of Wakitsch grand slams in game one and eight team roundtrippers in a semi-final victory over three time straight champion Caeser's from Burlington, Wis. But manager Kevin Bauer pointed to the stats to show that it was more than home runs which won the tourney. Doug Freund (.588), Jeff Meyers (.688), Chuck Marke (.500), Rick Wakitsch (.583), Gary Schmitt (.556), Larry Jones (.667), and Don Bentz ( 571) took care of that. Twig Miller, Dave Sundby, Jim Zasata, Len^ Ackerman, Al Stilling, Steve Scarcia, and Bauer shared in the spoils. In game one, Wakitsch ended up with 10 RBI's during the 21-6 rout of P J Pub. Jones went 3-for-3 while Doug Freund added three hits and four runs scored. Marke and Bentz added roundtrippers. After three innings, in Sunday's semi final versus Caeser's, the Nail trailed 8-2. But the first three batters in the fourth were Marke, Wakitsch, and Bentz who all slammed home runs to ignite a 14-run outburst which left Caeser's in the dust. Both Marke and Bentz would hit one more home run in the inning along with Zasata's windblown four-bagger^ Schmitt added a lea doff home run in the second and the Nail went on to a 22-9 win. ; Zasata had four hits and six RBI'rto lead all batters. Marke and Meyers had three hits each. PatWirtz
