They went 7-2 overall and earned a co- championship with Rockton-Hononegah in the now disbanded SHARK Conference with a 5-1 mark. H o w e v e r , M a r i a n missed the Illinois High School Association playoffs as Hononegah w a s o f f i c i a l l y designated the con­ f e r e n c e p l a y o f f representitve. The Indians edged Marian in a point differential system, although the two teams split their two regular season games. A l t h o u g h t h e Hurricanes failed to make the playoffs, they did impressively rebound from 1980's 1-8 mark. And they hope to do it again. The Hurricanes will field a small, but ex­ perienced ballclub -- with a heavy emphasis on senior talent. The starting offense, for example, will be all seniors except for returning quarterback Chuck Hartlieb, while the defensive unit will have only two non- senirs.
