Edelsiein A On Sunday, Oct. 3, NBC will air a two-hour, live special marking the 20th anniversary of "The Tonight Show Star­ ring Johnny Carson." The ^iow will feature early TV appearances by such comedians as Woody Allen, Flip Wilson, Richard Pryor and George Carlin, all of whom used the show as a springboard to fame, as well as memorable moments from the show's past. Even though the anniversary special is marking a happy occasion, after two decades the show's popularity has begun to fade. Originally 90 minutes long, the show has been cut back to one hour. Because of Carson's irregular appearances, sometimes it seems as if the show should be called the "David Brenner-Joan Rivers Hour with special guest appearance by Johnny Carson."
