OTT Children Need Scout Uniforms During this tight economy period, some of us find it a little difficult to be able to buy all the things we need, Perhaps a Girl Scout or Cub Scout uniform seems unessential to most of us, but to a little boy or girl who is joining Scouts for the first time, it gives them a great deal of pride to put on that uniform to attend their meetings. If your children have outgrown their uniform£~anti} you wish to donate or sell them foy& nominal sum, please contact Nancy Daurio at 653-9906. She is primarily interested in Brownie and Cub Scout uniforms but wiU b£ happy to see that Girl Scout unifefras get to the proper leaders. FLORIDA VACATION Summer is a tune of fun and en joyment with your children before they return to school. That is What Mick and Nancy Daurio found when they took a three-week vacation to Florida with their children Michelle, Mickey and Joey. Their first stop was Chickamaugua Battlefield and Stone Mountain in Georgia. While in Georgia, they also visited Nancy's aunt, Barbara Mc- Nulty and family, who they had not seen in seven years. There was a lot of news to get caught up with. The folks camped out most of the time and stayed at Kissimmee, Fla. while they spent two days at Disney World. From there they traveled to West Palm Beach where they visited Mick's cousins, Joe and Joannie DeMauro. The children loved the Mick had a convention to attend in Miami Beach, so Nancy and the children had a big decision to make that week, whether to stay at the motel pool or go to the beach to get their suntan. They must have opted for the beach part of the time because they got a nice collection of sea shells. They saw the live mermaids at Weeki Wachee and then were on the road to Picyune, Miss, to visit Mick's aunt Marie Pasentine. Unfortunately, they did not get to see her as she was at the hospital with ho* daughter Judy who had been admitted very unex pectedly. They did enjoy a nice time with Mick's cousin's wife, Trish and son, Dennis. To finish off the trip, the folks stayed1 at Pickwick State Park in Tennessee where they toured the Shiloh Battlefield. They did a great many tilings on their trip but Nancy said it was very relaxing. After they got home, they celebrated anniversaries with other family members including Jim and Mary Daurio, Bob and Dolores White, Jim and Cindy Daurio and Tom Daurio. U.M.W. Soap can form a film on gold, so it's wise to take your jewelry off before showering, cleaning, or washing dishes. Keep each karat gold piece in a separate compartment in your jewel box, to prevent scratching. To clean your gold jewelry, use a soft bristle brush, soap and water. After soaping, rinse well with lukewarm water and allow to dry. You can remove grease from karat gold jewelry by dipping it in plain rubbing alcohol. When the jewelry is dry, polish it with chamois or other soft cloth. Three new services to help students and school officials better understand and interpret . scores on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test- National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT-NMSQT) have been in troduced by the college board to coincide with this year's test date of Oct. 19, according to Dennis Spraetz, director of guidance at Johnsburg high school. The three services are: "Summary of Answers Report", which indicates how many students in each school, district, or state chose each answer to each question on the test, as compared to all students taking the test nationally; "State Summary Reports of Sophomores", which show career choices, intended college majors, ethnic background, and similar demographic data - identical to information currently provided for juniors; and "A Coun selor's Guide to Helping Students Learn from the PSAT-NMSQT", a new publication designed for coun selors to help students more grasp the general nature of the test and the implications of their test results. ; The PSAT-NMSQT is co-sponsored by the college board and the National Merit Scholarship corporation. Since 1959, more than 25.5 million students have taken the test, which measures verbal and mathematical abilities. By taking the test, students discover how they rank among juniors (or sophomores or seniors) across the country. It also provides a preview of the College Board's Scholastic Ap titude Test (SAT), which many seniors take when they apply for college. The PSAT-NMSQT is also the qualifying test for students wishing to participate in competitions of the National Merit Scholarship cor poration.
