DEATHS VINCENT ADAMS Vincent H. Adams, 70, of McHenry, died Monday, Oct. 11, while a patient at McHenry hospital. He was born March 1,1912, in Johnsburg, the son of Jacob and Anna (Freund) Adams. Mr. Adams attended Johnsburg schools; worked for Tonyan Brothers, Inc. of McHenry for 37 years, as an operating engineer; was employed two years at the Adams Brothers Steel Division of McHenry; and had been a Third Ward City of McHenry Alderman, serving from April of 1977 until April of 1961. A member of the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption, singing on the Senior Choir for many years, Mr. Adams was a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1288, McHenry, where he became a 4th Degree Knight of Sishop Boylan Assembly; served two terms as Grand Knight and two terms as District Deputy. Surviving are his wife Pauline (Herdrich) whom he married 42 years ago, on Jan. 20,1940; a son Vincent J. (Diane) Adams, Sr.; a grandson Vincent J., Jr.; and a granddaughter Renee. Also surviving are five brothers, Joseph and OttO of Johnsburg, Nick and Alex of McHenry, and Clemens of Yellville, Ark..; and a father-in-law, Emil Herdrich of McHenry. He was preceded in death by both parents; a sister Genevieve Adams in' 1933; and two brothers, Matt in 1972 and Alfons "Duke" in 1965. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption, with Father Schott officiating, and in­ terment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home. Memorials would be appreciated in his name to St. Labre Indian Mission, Ashland, Mont. Visitation was scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Oehler funeral home, Lee at Perry streets, Des Plaines. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wed­ nesday at the funeral home chapel. LUDWIG ORTLIEB Ludwig Ortlieb of McHenry died Monday, Oct. 11, at McHenry hospital. He was 70 years old, born in Poland Feb. 19, 1912. Mr. Ortlieb lived in McHenry about 13 years and was a retired carpenter. Surviving are his wife Egima <Hintz); two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Alice) Gounis of Chicago and Mrs. Arnold (Emily) Kloepfer of McHenry; and three grandchildren. He was 92 years old, born April 23, 1890, in Brockton, Mass. Mr. Reynolds lived in McHenry about eight years, having come from Chicago. He was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Surviving are his wife Rose Mary (Ellermann); a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Donna Jane) Schneider of Los Gatos, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was the brother-in-law of Florence and Harry Lynn of McHenry, who also survive. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption, McHenry, with burial in Ridgewood cemetery, Des Plaines. Ontiveros, 73, of McHenry, died Sunday, Oct. 10, at McHenry hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1909, in Oklahoma, the daughter of William and Lucy Rush. A resident of the McHenry area since March of 1982, Mrs. Ontiveros was formerly of Mid West City, Okla. for over 50 years. She had been a seamstress in Oklahoma City most of her life. Survivors are three sons, Robert Dawdy of McHenry; William of Conroe, Tex. and Robert Ontiveros of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother Fred Rush of Joplin, Mo.; and three sisters, Exie Martin of Wanett, Okla., Stella Hodgson and Margie Rush, both of Indio, Calif. She was preceded in death by two husbands, George E. Dawdy in 1932 and Isadore Ontiveros in 1979; and one grandson, Maxwell Dawdy, Oct. 1, 1982. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Lowery of the First United Methodist church officiating and interment in Woodland cemetery. Visitation was scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Krepel of McHenry died Thursday, Oct. 7, at McHenry hospital. He was 83 years old, born in McHenry Aug. 25,1899, the son of Otto and Henrietta (Baltke) Krepel. Mr. Krepel lived in the McHenry area all his life and was a retired dairy farmer. Surviving are his wife Agnes (Peve) whom he married fifty-five years ago, on April 29, 1927; Three daughters, Mrs. Mary Stockwell of McHenry, Mrs. Richard (Elsie) Hawkins of Ogema, Wis. and Mrs. Robert (Martha) Hawkins of Renton, Wash.; two sons, Leo of Elgin and Alfred of McHenry; 31 grandchildren; 29 Great-great-grandchildren; and a brother Henry Krepel of Crystal Lake. She was 79 years old, born April 3, 1903, in Georgetown, Ky., the daughter of Joseph and Marguerite (Le Mons) Wagner. Surviving are her husband Chester; a son Joseph Benoche of McHenry; one daughter, Mrs. Bernard (Patricia) Bennett of Clarendon Hills, 111.; a step-daughter Lanita Glenn of Oak Park; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister Lucy Ann Wagner of Phoenix, Ariz. JOHN BREFELD John Henry Brefeld, 82, of Waukegan, 111. died Oct. 5, in St. Therese hospital, following a lingering illness. He was born Sept. 6, 1900 in McHenry, and moved Co Waukegan in 1918. Mr. Brefeld retired from Feinberg's Store for Men in August, 1981. He was a member of the Immaculate Con­ ception church of Waukegan where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and served as an usher for over 50 years. He also belonged to the Swedish Glee club, Elks club and Exchange club.
