The tenth anniversary of Christ the King church of Wonder Lake will be celebrated in a most significant manner Oct. 27, the feast of Christ the King, patronal feast of the parish. Lane, bishop of Rockford, will offer a low pontifical Mass in the present basement church and officiate at the ground-breaking ceremonies on the beautiful twenty-' seven acre plot bought for the new parish plant. The petitioners are the National State Bank of Austin, under 8 trust, also James Taggert and Fred Brodie. They are asking rezoning from "F" farming district for th* development of multiple uses coifc taining a motel, marina and recreational facilities; commercial uses including the sale of alcoholic beverages and industrial uses, singly and multiple family dwellings. « Rick Adams won first place in the seventh grade chess tournament held at the McHenry Junior high school recently. The installation work was conducted in a capable manner by the district deputy, Miss Mary Collins of Chicago, who spoke words of praise for the pn^ram of the local court. Mrs. Lucille Nye was the retiring grand regent. The Altar and Rosary sodality of St. Patrick's church will sponsor its annual chicken dinner to be held in the church hall. The 14 farmers whose milk plant was burned to the ground at Rich mond by alleged members of the Pure Milk association are considering the feasibility of rebuilding. FORTY YEARS AGO . News about our Servicemen: Paul Harvey stationed at Nashville, Tenn., was home on furlough and friends were glad to see him again after an a decrease of 16.9 percent from the 1,482 deaths through September in 1980. During September there were 28 pedestrians tolled in 25 accidents, five pedalcyclists killed in five accidents, six persons killed in six railroad crossing accidents, and 24 persons killed in 24 accidents involving motorcycles. Traffic fatalities on Illinois' high ways during September resulted in 154 deaths in 137 accidents, an in crease of 8.5 percent from the 142 deaths in September, 1961, according to provisional figures released by the Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois State Police. The provisional total of 1,232 fatalities for nine months of 1982 is a decrease of 11.5 percent from the 1,392 deaths for the same period of 1981, and Americans eat more bananas than any other fruit -18 pounds per year for every man, woman and child - and all of it is imported.
