REVIEWS Cris Williamson -- "Blue Rider" (Olivia) -- Cris Willi amson is the most popular (the only popular) recording act on the Olivia label, a firm halfway between record com pany and feminist collective. Often compared to Joni Mitch ell or Carole King, she is ear thier than either, firmly con nected to the South Dakota hills (where she was born) and more than a little tinged by the raised-consciousness of California (where she lives). Those who cut their musical teeth on Joan Baez and still enjoy the folk-rock sound Cris Williamson would do well to seek out "Blue Rider." Al Koopar -- "Champion ship Wrestling" (Columbia) -- Al Kooper is a rock 'n' roll hero; from New York's seminal Blues Project through the Super Sessions (with the late Mike Bloomfield) to producing an array of pop stars, he has shaped the sound while avoid ing the limelight. This album shines the key spot on Mickey Thomas, Valerie Carter, the Tower of Power horns and gui tarist Jeff Baxter, but it is Kooper's sensibilities -- from a sure touch with R & B to the hook of a country ballad -- that shapes the work. Talk Talk (EMI) -- This four-song EP fairly shouts: "Keep your eye on us! We're going somewhere!" And well they might; Talk Talk com bines the pretentious intricacy of the Police with the rock urgency of Led Zeppelin (not yet, of course, scaling those heights). A band to, well, keep your eye on.
