Close your eyes, and picture the front door of your favorite store. Outside that closed portal, the flaming hordes await thou sands upon thousands of peo ple -- you among them -- the opening of the store. The doors open . . . the shoppers tense . . . Ready, Set . . . Go! And the crowd leaps into action as one body (sort of like the start of the Boston Marathon) all trying to squeeze through that one door toward the one and only sales clerk. You panic "How can I pos sibly do my work at the office, take care of Jim and the kids and fight those crowds to get all my Christmas shopping done?" You wake up with a start and vow, "This year, I'm going to do it differently." While the holidays may be wonderful fun, there's no doubt that, for the 24-hour woman, it's difficult to slot all that shopping into your already busy schedule. But, there is a way to make the Christmas season more fun this year, and less hectic. First, work out a detailed bat- tle plan, and stick to it. Second, change your ap proach to holiday gifting. Don't try to do it all your self. The Christmas season is traditionally a time to share joy. But, this year, how about sharing some of the responsi bilities with your family. As an Enjoli woman -- wife, mother and working woman--there's no reason for you to cany the whole bur den yourself. After all, you're already pushing a 25-hour day now! Coupled with sharing re^ sponsibilities, precise, de tailed advance planning will help you to organize, shield you from last minute panic, help you save money and en- sure the success of your Christmas gift choices. Here's the way to go about it: 1. Hold a family planning Conference -- Start with a Gift? large pad, and list all the you might have gotten earlier friends and family to whom on may have disappeared from you want to give gifts. Star the/ the shelves late in the season. names of all out of town fanjF ily and friends slated to re ceive gifts, and slot in a mail ing date. Assign each family member a group of names and respon sibilities according to their capabilities. For instance. Dad's just as capable of find ing a gift for Aunt WJIma in Wyoming as you are. and Jun ior's at the age where he can purchase the gift paper and trimmings, and do the wrap ping and tying. With everyone pitching in. the pressure's off you, and there's fun for the whole fam ily. 2. Plan to shop early to get the most for your money -- Suggest that family members shop as far in advance of the season as possible. Last min ute panic shopping in crowded stores, with over-burdened sales people, can be frustrat ing and time-consuming ... and more expensive. Values Perfume is always a sure fire winner as a holiday gift, and it's interesting to note that some fragrance manufacturers such as Enjoli have their beau tifully-wrapped Christmas gifts already out on the count ers before the official holiday season begins. Take advantage of this extra shopping time, when stores won't be as crowded, and you can make some excellent pur chases. Enjoli, a delightful longlast- ing green floral scent, is wrapped for Christmas this year in rich jewel-toned colors of plum and raspberry scattered with gold dust. Shop esuly for it, because there are some ter rific values, and they'll go fast. The Set for Success is gift boxed, and contains 1.25 ounces of Natural Spray Cologne and 3/8 oz. Natural Spray Perfume. It's a $36 value for only $10.00! The Exquisite Gift, % oz. y^\\w May We Suggest TRAVEL SIFT CERTIFICATES Perfect for those hard to buy for loved ones on your list. Plan your shopping to make the most of your time -- To save time, urge your fam ily to indicate, next to each gift listing, in which store they expect to make their purchase, and then suggest that they make as many purchases as possible at one stop. To maximize your own time, ask your boss if you can take one day to have an early lunch hour, say from 11 to 12. when stores are less crowded. You'll pack less waiting time and more shopping time into your hour off, and get more accomplished with less frus tration. If you're planning to shop on a Saturday, arrange to do your chores after your Christ mas shopping. Be the first one into your store in the morning, and you'll be the one to claim the full attention of a fresh- faced and eager sales clerk. Prepare ahead of time for those days when you can't get to the store. Get on the mailing list of the best catalogs availa ble. and keep them stored in a folder. Then when the time comes, you can whip them out, make your selection, and mail order your choices. 4. Hold family meetings -- Once gift assignments have been made, and the shopping season is underway, make a weekly date with your family to discuss progress, and solve any problems that arise. That way, you won't get hit with unexpected, last minute shop ping. Then, when the day arrives for the annual family Christ mas party, you'll be cool as a cucumber and pleased as punch . . . you'll have han dled the gifting without a has sle.
