REVIEWS Alley Cats -- "Escape from the Planet Earth (MCA) -- Remember when protesting American youths were told: "If you don't like it here, move"? Well, the Alley Cats seem to be dissatisfied with more than America; they're sick of the whole ball of mud. Nothing inside this LP matches the quality of the evocative cover art by artist Yumi Chai, but perhaps it will reach a following on the basis of "misery loves company." Barry Reynolds -- "I Scare Myself" (Island) -- It was Reynolds' songwriting that gave Marianne Faithfull her comeback; their "Broken English" collaboration is included here. Reynold's deliv­ ery, though, is much more upbeat. Perhaps the Sly Dunbar/Robbie Shakespeare rhythm section adds life maybe it's just that you Cc get too depressed whi e recording in the Bahamas.
