DEATHS LLOYD MILLER Lloyd I. Miller, 75, of 7512 South drive, Wonder Lake, died Monday, Dec. 13, at Royal Terrace Nursing Home. He was born July 18,' 1907, the son of Charles and Ida Mae (Salz- waddle) Miller. Mr. Miller was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Surviving are his wife Ellen; a son Michael of McHenry; two grand­ children; and two sisters, Mrs. F. A. Smith and Mrs. Esther Muselman, bot*i of Des Moines, la. Private services were held Tuesday at the Freund funeral home, Wonder Lake, with the Reverend Roy Wisner of Evangelical Free church of­ ficiating. Interment was private. J. BERNICE GROH J. Bernice Groh, 70, of 8918 Oriole trail, Wonder Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 12, in her home. She was born Sept. 29, 1912, the daughter of Carl and Jenny (Skjersager) Quist. Surviving is one brother, Frank Quist of McHenry. Funeral services will be offered by the Rev. Roy Wisner of Evangelical Free church, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Freund funeral home, Wonder Lake. Interment will be private. SAMUEL SCHMUNK Samuel Schmunk, 63, of Tarpon Springs, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 11, in Tarpon Springs. He was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Fred and Elizabeth (Fritzler) Sch­ munk. A resident of McHenry for 35 years, Mr. Schmunk moved to Florida in 1978. He had been a general manager for Sunnyside Dodge 10 years; a WW II Army veteran; and assisted the McHenry Area Rescue Squad with the purchase of its first ambulance in 1971-72. On Sept. 18,1943, in Richmond, 111., he married the former June Hagberg, who survives. Other survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Sandra Jean) Young of Pineville, N.C., Judy Johnson of Waukegan, 111., Nancy Bukovsky of McHenry, Mrs. Fred (Linda) Lemerande of Green Bay, Wis., and Mrs. Brent (Donna) Walls of Zion, 111.; and 14 grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, George, Fred and Robert Schmunk, all of Birch Run, Mich, and three sisters, Bernice Schmunk and Alma Smith, both of Birch Run, and Clara Schneider of Pueblo, Colo. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home, where services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, by Pastor Roger Schneider of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church. In­ terment will be private. DOMINIC ROSE Dominic C. Rose, 77, of McHenry, died Friday, Dec. 11, in McHenry. He was born July 16, 1905, in Italy, to James and Rose (Cerialla) Rose. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Notto, whom he married July 11,1926, in Chicago; three daughters, Rose Steck of McHenry, Mrs. Charles (Mariann) Berndt of McHenry, and Carmella Knitter of Marengo; a son James of Arlington Heights; nine grandchildren and four great­ grandchildren. A Funeral Mass was offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption, McHenry, wi th Father James Gaynor of­ ficiating, and entombment in Arlington Heights. Visitation was from 3 to9 p.m. Monday at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home. Memorials would be appreciated to the American Cancer Society. KATHLEEN MARS Kathleen Mars, 79, of McHenry, died Thursday, Dec. 9, at McHenry hospital. She was born May 12, 1903, in Chicago, the daughter of John and Martha (Artmann) O'Brien. A resident of the McHenry area over 35 years, Mrs. Mars had been employed as a credit file manager for Continental Bank of Chicago since 1940. Since 1968 she was a close friend of the Dr. Bernard Miller family and spent many hours as a volunteer in the McHenry Hospital Auxiliary, with the Pink Lady organization. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Margaret Sullivan of Bensenville, 111.; a niece, Mrs. Norma McCauley of McHenry; f ive n ieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William on March 31 ; 1967; and both parents. A Funeral Mass was conducted at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's church, McHenry, wi th Father Pet i t of ­ ficiating and entombment in Queen of Heaven cemetery, Hillside, 111. Visitation was from 3 toy p.m. Sunday at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of one's choice.
