Richard Z. Kotecki, 19, of Poplar road, Fox Lake, was pronounced dead on arrival at McHenry hospital, where he was taken after his northbound vehicle went off the road and struck a tree. Police said the Kotecki vehicle broke in half on impact with the tree and the driver, the lone occupant, was thrown from the vehicle. ^ Two people were killed in unrelated area weekend traffic accidents in­ vestigated by Illinois State police. Kimberly A. Church, 19, 3914 N. Raycraft road, Woodstock, was pronounced dead at the scene of a one- vehicle -accident ^hich"occur red at 11:50 p.m. Saturday on South street, west of U.S. 14. Police said the Church vehicle was westbound on South, went off the road and struck a tree. Ms. Church, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was thrown from it and the vehicle then came to rest on top of the driver. _ The McHenry Area Rescue squad was called to a one-vehicle accident on River road, where a car had left the DENNIS CONWAY 3319 W. The driver of the car, Lynda Ziebel, 4814 Wilmot road, McHenry, and two passengers, Sheila A. and Brian A. Wiedenhoeft, both of 1619 N. Riverside drive, McHenry, were taken to McHenry hospital for examination and treatment of injuries. Ms. Ziebel told county police she was driving north on River road and lost control on an icy patch. No citations were issued. Anthony T. Sroka, 1924 Orchard Beach, McHenry, was charged with driving under the influence and driving too fast for conditions following a one-car accident on Route 173 at the intersection with E. Solon road. 0, Robert P. Hovseth, 705 Pleasant Trail, McHenry, told county police he was driving east on Broadway when he saw a reflection of "eyes" on the roadway. Hovseth applied the brakes and lost control of the vehicle. The car struck a tree near the intersection with Wilmot road. Janice R. Ms. Theel said she was driving east when the light changed to red and she could not stop on the snowy pavement. The driver of the other car was Diane M. Weinberg, of 3805 W. Main street, McHenry. traveling on Route 12 last Friday. The driver of the other car was Charles E. Jackson, 612 Sage, Lake Geneva. Ms. Bennett was taken to McHenry hospital by the Spring Grove Rescue squad. Diana J. Brandenburg, 9018 Oriole, Wonder Lake, was driving north on Alden road, at McGuire road, when a gust of wind pushed the van she was driving to the north shoulder of the roadway. Ms. Brandenburg lost control of the vehicle, which rolled to its side. The Harvard Rescue squad took Ms. Brandenburg and passenger, Michael E. Wade, 3112 Pheasant, Wonder Lake, to Memorial Hospital for McHenry County, Woodstock. McHenry police cited David J. Miller, 3612 Ellen, McHenry, with improper backing, illegal tran­ sportation of alcohol and driving under the influence after the vehicle he was operating backed into a county police squad car at the intersection of Pearl street and Riverside drive. The deputy, Frank J. Sexton, 17016 O'Brien, Harvard, told police he was behind the Miller vehicle when it backed at a high rate of speed. Miller said he was attempting to back into a parking place when the collision occurred. Marilynn R. Hamilton, 915 Oak- wood, McHenry, was backing into a parking place on W. Elm street when a pedestrian stepped off the curb and was struck by her vehicle. The pedestrian, Richard J. Matt, 2409 Villa lane, McHenry, was taken to McHenry hospital by his wife. No citations were issued. David A. Stilling, 424 Brandywine, Crystal Lake, was cited for driving too fast for conditions following a three- car collision at Elm and Third streets. The other drivers involved were Cheryl R. Koehl, 1816 Lakewood, and Christopher J. Nylander, 1308 Meadow, McHenry. No injuries were reported. George A. Bailey, of 4802 E. Wonder Lake road, Wonder Lake, was driving west on Barnard Mill road when he lost control of his car on the snowy pavement. The car went off the road and struck a utility pole. Timothy L.
