MIKE LAMB Along with a few minor changes at the Chapel Hill Country Club, one major change has been made. A new club pro was named by the country club in November. The new pro is 27-year-old Jim Sobb who was an assistant club pro at Thorngate Country club in Deerfield. Tile appointment was made official Nov. 1. Sobb is a Western Illinois University graduate where he played on the golf team four years. In 1976 and 1977 he made all-american honors in Division II. The Illinois PGA member began is club pro career three years ago at Hillcrest Country Club in Long Grove as an assistant. Sobb has only been on the job for over a-month, but he said he doesn't expect any major changes at Chapel Hill. "We will continue with the strong league program. There might be some pleasant changes with the golf course," he said. Chapel Hill golfers will benefit Sobb's golfing experience. He has played in all the Illinois PGA tournaments, including the one held at McHenry Country Club in September. He also plays in the PGA club pro mini-tour for four weeks during the winter. "I consider myself a good teacher," Sobb added. He will be available to give lessons by appointment.
