The 4-6 Streaks meet Highland Park at 6:30 p.m. in tonight's second round. Also at Wheeling, McHenry fell to Downers Grove North 64-54. The Warriors'were scheduled to take on Riverside-Brookfield at 12:30 p.m. in consolation bracket action. Meanwhile, at Hampshire's Nor thern Illinois Classic, Jacobs rolled to an 87-51 win over Chicago-Willibrod Catholic while Marian Central ad vanced in the consolation round with an 84-61 triumph over Wheaton-St. Francis. Harvard and Johnsburg, however, both lost and were eliminated from the 16-team meet. At Marengo, the host Indians had little trouble beating Chicago Latin 60- 42, while Richmond-Burton climbed over the .500 mark as it nipped North Boone 59-58. In the 16-team DeKalb boys meet, Crystal Lake Central easily disposed of Mendota 75-58. Crystal Lake South begins tourney action today at Grayslake. At the Loves Park-Harlem girls tournament, Crystal Lake South was the only McHenry County team to advance* routing Rockford-Auburn. Woodstock and Harvard both lost close matches. Following is a roundup of all the prep action Northern Illinois Classic Marian Central bounced back from a 10-point first quarter deficit to top Wheaton-St. Francis 84-61 in a con solation round game at Hampshire's Northern Illinois Classic Monday. In championship round contests, Jacobs won its 10th straight game as the Golden Eagles routed Willibrod Catholic 87-51; Belvidere slipped by Lake Zurich 59-58; Hononegah gained revenge for an defeat earlier this season as it whipped Harvard 65-51; and Hampshire rolled by Johnsburg 88-74. Consolation round winners included Burlington Central, Genoa-Kingston and Kaneland. The Hurricanes take on Kaneland at 6 p.m. tonight. In the Marian-St. Francis contest, Dan Lalor came off the bench to lead all scorers with 24 points. Ed Kennedy added 19 while Chuck Hartlieb con tributed 13 for the 'Canes. "We were down in the first quarter by as much as 10 and then we rolled off about 18 in a row on them," said Hurricane coach Hans Rokus. "We led at half by five (and) in the tyird quarter we built it ufr to 20. "It just took a while to get on track after being off a couple of days," he added. Marian is now 3-7 on the season. In Jacobs' win over Willibrod Catholic, Tom Schafer scored 34 points to lead his 11-1 Eagles to tonight's match against Belvidere. Against Harvard, Hononegah's Indians avenged an earlier two-point loss to Harvard by knocking the Hornets out of the Northern Illinois Classic 65-51. Harvard and Hononegah played a close first half, with the score tied at 10 at the end of the first quarter and the Indians holding a 24-22 halftime lead. But late in the third quarter, he sewed a pair of quick baskets to take a five-point lead, 37-32. Wheeling Wildcat Classic Jeff Harris put his Blue Streaks in the lead quickly, scoring the first two- pointer of the game and went on to tally a season-high 21 points as Woodstock topped the Mustangs by 17 points. Building a 13-4 lead in the first quarter, the Blue Streaks maintained an 8-10 point lead until late in the third period when they finally broke the game open. Woodstock led Morton East 14-8 after one period, 28-20 at halftime and opened their advantage to 50-36 entering the final period. The Streaks started to wear down the Mustangs late in the third. Leading Morton East 39-30, Wood stock went on a 19-10 tear into the fourth period to build a 58-40 lead. But Blue Streak coach Gordie Tebo seemed to feel his team could have had an even more convincing win. "We just never could get going. We never felt the juices flowing. Our press was very ineffective," he said. Along with Harris' 21 points, Brad Hutter contributed 16, going 5-for-6 from the field and 6*for-6 from the free-throw line. Greg Bradshaw tossed in 12 ppints. Cliff Holstein paced Morton East with 18 points. Woodstock meets Highland Park, 66-54 winners over ho6t Wheeling, at 6:30 p.m. The Giants are a bit taller than the Streaks and matches Woodstock's speed. "We're going to have to try to change defenses on them and be patient on offense," Tebo said. In the McHenry-Downers Grove North contest, the taller Trojans took command in the final period, hitting six of seven free throws down the stretch to beat the Warriors 64-57. "We just couldn't rebound with that big team," aid McHenry coach Ken Ludwig. "We were outrebounded 2&-16 and that was the big difference.' Randy Lively and Gary Freund each scored 14 to lead the Warriors.
