Annual Valentine L\inch-Card Party i $t. Patrick's Ladies' Guild will sponsor its annual Valentine Salad Bijffet Luncheon and Card Party Wednesday, Feb. 9, in the church hall, 35<)0 W. Washington street, McHenry. There will only be an advance sale of tickets, therefore, those interested in attending should call Helen Koblitz, 385-3516, immediately. Serving will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. A nice afternoon is being planned with a delicious luncheon, prizes and other awards, including a queen size hand designed quilt. Men are also invited. The Ladies' Guild will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, in the church hall. A social hour will follow. Any interested woman in the community may attend. McHenry County Senior Citizens' Council plans to sponsor a series of Sunday Brunches a' i's Meet & Eat centers throughout he county where seniors can share companionship, enjoy good food and help themselves. The first of these special events will be a Valentine's Day Brunch on Feb. 13, at the Crystal Lake Meet & Eat center. 133 Illinois street. Jacquie Johnson, kitchen manager at McHenry County college, will be the guest chef. There will be two seatings at 10 a.m. and noon. The first menu will include an egg dish, a selection of fresh fruits, bacon slices, fruit jello, "Mother's homemade bread pudding", and three kinds of tasty rolls and pastries. These brunches will be on a pre-paid reservation basis. All seniors are invited to attend and bring guests of all ages. Those interested are urged to call the center manager at 385-8260, for reservations and payment before Friday, Feb. 11. UMW Slates Slide Presentation The next United Methodist Women's General meeting will be held Thur­ sday, Feb. 17, at noon, beginning with a potluck luncheon in the Fellowship hall, with the Priscilla Circle as hostess. The program will be, "I - A Child Advocate", a slide presentation by Katherine Green of the Lake Bluff- Chicago Homes for Children. Everyone is invited and urged to attend as it should be a most in­ teresting program. The January meeting of the group began with a potluck luncheon at noon in the Fellowship hall, and the Ruth Circle was hostess. An "Early Bird Angel" helps to underwrite the fashion show expenses with a tax deductible donation of $5 or more. To show its appreciation for "Early Bird" donations, the fashion show committee is planning a tea for all "Angels' on Feb. 15. Early Bird donations should be made before Feb. 9. Prepare For Sweetheart Dance « Senior Walk-In Center Co-chairmen Debbie Glen, on the left, and Alice Hoffman take a break from working on posters to look over music for the St. John's Home and School Sweetheart Dance. The dance will be held Saturday, Feb. 12, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., at the Johnsburg Community club. Music will be provided by a popular, live band, and drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Civic Group In Party Mood Valentine's day will be a little more festive this year for residents of Royal Terrace due to the efforts of the McHenry Junior Women's Civic group. A holiday dinner with corsages and boutonnieres for the guests, Valentine gifts and a pastry cart with homemade desserts are only some of the plans in the making. Members of the club will act as hostesses, waitresses, chefs and bakers for this special occasion. The McHenry Junior Women's Civic group, a non-profit organization, is made up of concerned women who want to not only better their com­ munity but also do some nice things for nice people who need a little help and attention. Membership in this club is open to all who want to donate at least four hours a year to a community project or some other worthy cause. The next meeting will be held Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal church, 3706 W. St. Paul's avenue. All in­ terested persons are encouraged to attend. AWARE SINGLES GROUP The Aware Singles group invites all singles to group dance lessions at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Arlington Park Hilton, Euclid avenue and Rohlwing road, Arlington Heights. At 9 p.m. there will be a dance with live music. For more information, call Aware at 777-1005. Aware is a not-for- profit organization concerned with the needs of single, divorced and widowed people. Meals are served Monday through Friday at the McHenry Walk-In center beginning at 11:45 a.m. Reservations must b^ made by 1:30 p.m. the day before at 385-8260. The menu for the week of Feb. 7 through Feb. 11 is as follows: Feb. 7: Meat loaf, cauliflower, Harvard beets, assorted breads, vanilla pudding, milk. Feb. 9: Oven fried chicken, parsley buttered potatoes, glazed casrots, cole slaw, assorted breads, whipped jello, milk. Feb. 10: Lasagna, spinach, tossed salad, French bread, tapioca pudding, milk. Feb. 11: ALL CENTERS CLOSED FOR PRESIDENTS DAY. WOTM Sponsors Dinner & Dancing The McHenry chapter of the Women of the Moose is sponsoring an evening of fun and frolic Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Moose lodge, and all sweethearts are invited to attend. A dinner featuring Cornish hens will be served from 7 p.m., followed by dancing which will begin at 9.
