Aloys Steffens of McHenry will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary Sunday, Feb. 20, with a 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic church. An Open House will be held between the hours of 2 and € p.m. that day, at the home of the celebrants' son and daughter-in-law, 2110 W. Church street in Johnsburg. No gifts are requested. The couple was married Feb. 23, 1933 in Boos, Germany. They have three grandchildren, Michael, Jeffrey and Karen Ann. VICKI KUGLIN AND JAIME MANTEL JHY WEDDING - Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kuglin of McHenry announce the engagement of their daughter Vicki to Jaime Mantel, son of Mrs. Edith Mantel of Spring Grove. The wedding is planned for July 23,1983. Eightieth Birthday Open House In honor of her eightieth birthday, an open house will be held for Mrs. Stella Condon Deneen from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Clarence arid Katherine Adams, 6404 W. Bull Valley road, McHenry. Tfie celebration will also be hosted by her six other children, Mrs. Danny (Theresa) Miller, Mrs. Robert (Eleanor) Condon, Mrs. Gerald (Lynn) Condon, Mrs. Clarence (Johan) Neubauer, Mrs. Ed (Donna) Condon and Dr. Jim (Bonnie) Hill. Mrs. Deneen was a resident in Rich­ mond until nine years ago when she married Art Deneen. They reside at 401 Church boulevard, Harvard. She has 32 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. I--'. CLASS REUNION PICNIC FOR CLASS OF 1968 At 7 p.m Monday, Feb. 28, in the Oak Park lounge, 801 Grove, IVlcHenry, there will be a meeting for anyone in the McHenry Community higi school class of 1968 interested in helping plan a picnic this summer. Class member lists, place, time, etc.,- must be discussed. One may call Bob Mauch of McHenry with any questions. All help will be ap­ preciated. The former Debra Meuller of McHenry and Timothy Weideman of Fox Lake repeated their wedding vows at 2 p.m. Feb. 12, before the Reverend Roger W. Schneider, Pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, McHenry. The bride is the daughter of Judy and Fritz Mueller, 1508 N. River road, McHenry. Dolores and Lee Weideman of Ingleside are the parents of the bridegroom. To the sounds of "The Wedding March", the bride approached the altar to be given in marriage by her father. She was appropriately gowned in white satin, featuring lace adornment on the veil, sleeves and train. Her single layer veil enhanced the full length of the train. For the finishing touch, she carried white and cranberry pink silk flowers. The maid of honor was the bride's cousin, Lisa Diedrich of Woodstock. Her sister, Georgianna Corneal of Libertyville, was the bridesmaid. Attendents wer&_attired in cran­ berry pink dresses, styleaWith angel wing sleeves trimmed with whit The hemline of their skirts was highlighted witji a deep flounce. To complete the look, they wore cran­ berry pink and white hats decorated with lace and carried white fans graced with cranberry pink and white flowers and matching ribbons. The best man was Gary Schultz of Lake Villa, a friend of the groom. Another friend, Steve Benedict of Antioch, was the groomsmen. Ushers were the bride's brother Tom Mueller and the groom's brother Larry Weideman, both of McHenry. They all wore matching gray tuxedos. The mother of the bride selected an A-line, dusty pink floral dress, designed with a stand-up collar and long sleeves. A floor-length pink dress with a blouson bodice and trim of Queen Anne's lace was the choice of the groom's mother. Following the nuptials, a reception was held for 100 guests at the Moose lodge in McHenry. The wedding cake was cut by the bride's grandmother, Lyda Diedrich, and the guest book was circulated by the bride's niece, Maria Corneal, who had also distributed rice after the marriage ceremony. The bride graduated from high school in 1976 and is going to assume the duties of housewife. A 1973 graduate of Fox Lake Grant high school, the groom has been employed 11 years as a custodian for Grant High School District. They are making their home at 55 N. Lake avenue, Fox Lake. All flowers for the occasion were made by a cousin of the bride, Deb Rogers. The bride was honored at a pre- nuptial shower for 20 guests, hosted by Lisa Diedrich and Georgianna Cor­ neal. Exchange Promises In Hebron St. John Lutheran church, Hebron, 111. was the setting for the exchange of promises of marriage between the former Laura L. Bole and Robert N. Holmstrom. The Reverend Raymond C. Shawl officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 12. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bole, 4306 Clearview, McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Edward S. Holmstrom, 1015 Highland drive, Twin Lakes, Wis. are the parents of the bridegroom. The bride approached the altar wearing a traditional long white wedding gown with a veil. Tammie J. Bole of McHenry assisted the bride as her maid of honor. She was attired in a floor length blue dress and carried one long-stem red rose. Senior walk-In Meals are served Monday through Friday at the McHenry Walk-in center beginning at 11:45 a.m. Reservations must be imade by 1:30 p.hi. the day before at 385-8260. The menu for the week of Feb. 21 through Feb. 25 is as follows: Feb. 21: Beefaroni, peas, pear half in lime jello salad on lettuce (with grated cheese), bran muffin, chocolate pudding, milk, whipped cream. - Feb. 22: Hot turkey sandwich, gravy, sweet potato, brussels sprouts, jellied cranberry slice on lettuce, pumpkin tart, milk. Feb. 23: Hot dog, baked beans, pickle slices, pineapple carrot jello salad, assented breads, baked apple, milk. Feb. 24: Chicken Marengo, tater tots, mashed yellow squash, 3-bean salad, breads, gingerbread with whipped cream, milk. Feb. 25: Stuffed cabbage, corn, pickled beats on lettuce, roll, chocolate cake with cherries, milk. The duties of best man were han­ dled by Edward Holmstrom of Twin Lakes, Wis. He wore a blue-gray suit. For this happy occasion, the bride's mother selected a red dress. A gray dress was the choice of the mother of the groom. Following the nuptial ceremony, 70 friends and relatives attended a reception for the newlyweds at the home of the bride's parents. The new Mrs. Holmstrom is em­ ployed at Gearmaster in McHenry. Her husband, a 1971 graduate of Wilmot high school, Wilmot, Wis., works in the Shipping department of Cotter & Company, Harvard, 111. The couple will take a delayed honeymoon in the future. Fantasy Funland At Hebron High A "Fantasy Funland" sponsored by Alden-Hebron P.T.O. will be held Saturday, Mar. 5, in the Hebron high school. Hours pf this fun fair will be from 4 to 8 p.m. ifcili- "" There will be games for all ages, including a dunking machine, live fish, hoopla toss, slave auction, ar­ cade with computer games, and a cake walk. A special feature will be an "All You Can Eat" Spaghetti Dinner. Advance dinner tickets can be purchased at a reduced price. Proceeds will be used to help individual classes. VALENTINE'S DANCE The Crystal Pistols Family Square Dance club of Crystal Lake will'hold its Valentine's day dance Sunday, Feb. 20, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at St. further information, 459-6830. Nutritional Main Dishes 7 Pat DeAngelis, R.N. and nutritional therapist, will give a program on nutritional main dishes Thursday, Feb. 24, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., at the First Congregational church, 461 Pierson sreet, Crystal Lake. The McHenry County Defenders is sponsoring this program. Beginning with menu planning, Ms. DeAngelis will discuss the best techniques for shopping and preparing vegetable casseroles. She also will discuss more nutritious alternatives to main courses such as tacos, pizza burgers, and sloppy joes. Recipes will be available. Also in­ cluded in the program will be a question and answer session. The last hour will be set aside for planning future nutrition programs in the county. These programs could range from menu planning to learning to meet individual nutritional needs. Refreshments will be provided and babysitting will be available for pre- , school children in the adjoining meeting room. Everyone is invited to attend for an interesting and informative morning. Doherty of McHenry announce the engagement of their daughter Christine to Kenneth Ludwig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth T. Ludwig, also of McHenry. The bride elect is a 1976 graduate of Marian Central Catholic high school. Her fiance graduated from McHenry Community high school in 1975 and Eastern Illinois university in 1979. An April 9, 1983 wedding is planned. Set New Moms Group Meeting The New Mom's Discussion Group, which strives to help new moms deal with all their new responsibilities, will meet Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. The group offers mothers and their babies a time and place to come together to share the positive and negative ex­ periences of parenting and discuss the feelings that accompany motherhood during the baby's first year. One need not be a first time mother or a member of the Childbirth and Parenting Association of McHenry County. Observe Bauer Anniversaries The birthdays of both Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Bauer were celebrated this month. Mr. Bauer marked the occasion of his eighty-eighth birthday a day early because the actual anniversary fell on Ash Wednesday. Children, grandchildren, and great­ grandchildren gathered at the Bauer home on Fairway drive Tuesday evening to enjoy cake and coffee. Earlier in the month, Mrs. Bauer observed her eightieth birthday with a similar family celebration held In her honor. Hold International Dinner Thomas school, 265 King street. All one had to do was bring a dish with an international flair, and that was the admission.
