Seek Contestants For County Junior Miss Contestants are being sought for the McHenry County Junior Miss program slated to be held Sept. 25 in Crystal Lake. Girls in their junior year of high school are eligible to participate in this unique scholarship awarding program. Junior Miss is advertised for the "total girl", scholastically, academically, physically fit, con­ cerned about the community and talented. Various scholarships will be awarded to colleges from many states. Lori Baer, 1982-83 McHenry county Junior Miss, will be visiting McHenry county high schools in the next few months, seeking contestants to par­ ticipate in this exciting and rewarding program. Any girl interested in, competing may contact Doris Otte, (815) 459- 2032, Marilyn Georgy, 459-9579 or talk to Lori Baer at her school; Honor Priest's 40th Year The parishioners of St. Peter's Catholic church in Spring Grove will host a potluck supper in honor of the fortieth anniversary of their pastor's ordination to the priesthood Saturday night, April 16. Father Kilduff will celebrate (he 4 o'clock Mass in thanksgiving. Afterward, family, parishioners and friends are invited to join him in the church hall for fellowship and a potluck supper. Reservations are being handled by Dolores May, 675- 6256. John J. Kilduff was ordained by John J. Boylan, bishop of Rockford at St. James Pro-Cathedral, Saturday, March 27, 1943. Among his fellow ordinands were Arthur J. O'Neill, bishop of Rockford and Leo Ambre, pastor of St. Mary's, Huntley. The next day his first Mass was celebrated in his home parish, Our Lady Help of Christians, 832 N. LeClair avenue, Chicago. His first assignment was as an assistant at St. Mary's parish, DeKalb. His first pastorate was St. John's parish in Hanover. Father Kilduff came to St. Peter's in Spring Grove in June of 1965. SERVICE NEWS Cadet Cepulis Is Promoted ' CADET WADE CEPULIS Cadet Wade E. Cepulis son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cfepulis of M<f Henry, has recfently bfeen promoted to the grade of Cadet Air­ man First Class in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training. Corps (AFROTC) of the University of Illinois. His promotion is the result of a selection process that promotes only the most capable cadets in AFROTC of the Universtiy of Illinois. Cadet Cepulis is a 1982 graduate of McHenry high school, and is now a freshman majoring in Psychology. As an AFROTC cadet, he is a full time student working on his bachelor's Squardron 47, recently completed two weeks of active duty training at Marine Corps Air station, El Toro, Calif. The unit was involved in a tactical field operation at Marine corps Air Ground Combat center in Twenty Nine Palms, Calif., as well as completing various construction, electrical and mechanical projects at Marine Corps Air station (Helicopter) Tustin, Calif. The training proved to be invaluable and very successful in keeping the , Green Bay Marines technically proficient and combat ready. Complete Air Force Basic Airman Susan E. Trojan, daughter of Dennis P. and Peggy L. Trojan of 111 N. Ashland drive, McHenry, has been assigned to Chanute Air force base, 111., after completing Air force basic training. During the six weeks at Lackland Air Force base, Texas, the airman studied the Air force mission, organization and customs and " received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community college of the Air Force. The airman will now receive specialized instruction in the flight training equipment field. She is a 1981 graduate of McHenry Community high school, West cam­ pus. DEATHS PEARL LARSON Pearl E. Larson, died Sunday morning, April 3, at her residence, 4504 Greenwood road. She was 62 years old, bom April 9, 1920, in Blumfield township, Wis., to William and Emma Trapp. On June 30, 1951, in Slades Corner, Wis., she was married to Clarence Larson who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara Brooke of Wonder Lake and Yicki Swanson of Lake Geneva, Wis.; and two grand­ daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Adeline Thomson. » Funeral sepvicwwill be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney chapel, with interment in the McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock. Visitation was scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Wonder Lake Bible church. VIOLET SCHILLER Violet A. Schiller died Saturday, afternoon, April 2, in Memorial Hospital for McHenry County, Woodstock. She was 62 years old and made her home at 1627 Clay street, Woodstock. Mrs. Schiller was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Crystal Lake, to Charles and Amellia Glawe; and married Frank J. Schiller April 13, 1941, in Crystal Lake. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son James of Marengo; two daughters, Mrs. Gregory (Louise) Berg, Jr. of Johnsburg and Mrs. Craig (Dianne) Howard of Woodstock; six grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Glawe of McHenry and Carl Glawe of Crystal Lake; and a sister, Mrs. Edna Bahr of Lockport, 111. She was preceded in death by her parents, and twin brothers in infancy. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Schneider- Leucht-Merwin & Cooney chapel, with interment in Memorial Park cemetery, Woodstock. MARY BUCH Mary A. Buch, 93, of 1309 N. Park street, McHenry, died April 1 at Royal Terrace Nursing center. She was born Oct. 2, 1889, on the German Prairie near Johnsburg, to Stephen and Catherine (Klapperich) Freund; and was a lifetime resident of the McHenry-Johnsburg area. Mrs. Buch was a member of the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption, and belonged to the Christian Mothers sodality. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Kathryn) Lohr of Evansville, Wis. and Helen Buch of Chicago; three sons, Elbert of Elgin, Jerome and Henry of McHenry; eight grandchildren and five great­ grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Cecelia) Blake and Bertilla Freund; and a brother Herbert Freund, all of McHenry. Her husband Henry Buch passed away March 26, 1950. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister Helen Smith; and two brothers, A. P. Freund and Carl Freund. Visitation was held Monday at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home. A Funeral Mass was conducted by Father James Gaynor at St. Mary's church at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, with interment in the church cemetery. Memorials would be appreciated to the McHenry Area Rescue Squad or St. Mary's Debt Retirement fund. DOROTHY BUCHERT Dorothy E. Buchert, 76, 313 N. Green street, died Thursday, March 31, in McHenry hospital. She was born Oct. 1,1906, in Elgin, the daughter of Eugene and Delia (Heimer) Mat­ thews. A resident of McHenry since 1909, Mrs. Buchert was a member of the PAGE 3 - PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY. APRIL 6, 1983 Church of St. Mary ot the Assump­ tion; had been a superintendent and operator for 34 years for Illinois Bell Telephone Co.; belonged to the Telephone Pioneers of America, Women's Catholic Order of Foresters St. Clara's Court No. 659 of St. Mary's; Theodore Vail State Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers; and American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 491. Survivors include her husband Edward, whom she married Oct. 19, 1945, in McHenry; a sister Jean Matthews and a sister-in-law Bernice Matthews, both of McHenry. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother Edward, Feb. 10, 1976. By request of the family, private visitation was held at the George R. Justen & Son funeral home. A Funeral Mass was offered at 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Mary's church, with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the McHenry Area Rescue Squad or St. Mary's Debt Retirement fund. INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS St. Clara Court No. 659 will hold installation of officers and a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. at Montini Middle school, in the Mary hall, Thursday, April 14. Plebe-Parent Visi t Koseann Rokosz of 1812 Orchard lane, McHenry, visited her son, Cadet Darold Joseph Londo, at the U.S. Military academy, West Point, for the annual Plebe-Parent weekend. During Plebe-Parent weekend, the relatives and friends of plebes (fresh­ men) are invited to West Point to tour the grounds, meet with staff and faculty members and learn first-hand about the regimen followed by the academy's newest cadets. Cadet Londo's brothers, Roger Londo, Jr., of McHenry and Dean Londo of Hibbing, Minn., also visited for the weekend. Make Arrests In Local Incidents McHenry County Sheriff's police arrested and charged Martin Kasting, 18,7309 Nantucket, Wonder Lake, with battery and unlawful restraint following an incident last week. Police report that Kasting went into the room of a female acquaintance, struck her and would not let her leave. A domestic dispute ended with the arrest of Donald Gusterine, 5912 Fox Lake road, McHenry, after he reportedly struck family members. Police said Gusterine became un­ cooperative and was charged with battery and disorderly conduct. Bond was set at $1,050. John Trkovsky, 33, 6423 Willow, Spring Grove, was charged with battery after he allegedly struck family members during a family dispute. McHenry police arrested Andrzez Radlinski, 2916 Chapel Hill road, McHenry, and charged him with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, driving too fast for conditions and leaving the scene of an accident. Ronald Stringfellow, 47, 4816 Prairie, McHenry, was charged with driving with a revoked license following a traffic stop last Sunday. In addition to his regular college curriculum, he takes an Air Force Aerospace Studies course each semester. The course teaches Air Force histyry, leadership and management, and national defense policy. After graduation, Cadet Cepulis will be commmissioned as a second lieutenant and enter active duty as an Air Force officer. SERVES RESERVES Lt. Col. Lester D. Bacon of 2617 W. J BIRTHS \ Eric Patrick was the name chosen by Perry and Kathy Cooley of McHenry for their in­ fant son. He was born March 17 at Good Shepherd hospital and weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. Three brothers awaited his arrival home: Brian, age seven; Steven, six; and Jason, four. Maternal grandparents are Roger and Shirley Greenland of Marengo. Paternal grandparents are Bruce and Mary Cooley of Lake Zurich. Tom and Cathy Fuchs, 801 Oak Grove road, McHenry, an­ nounce the birth of their third son March 31. Brian Thomas entered the world at Memorial Hospital for McHenry County, Woodstock, at 9:07 a.m., Weighing 8 lbs. 4 oz. and measured 21 inches long. He was welcomed home by his brothers, Gregory, age four and a half; and two- year-old Donald. Maternal grandparents are Don and Carole Humann of McHenry. Fred and Elseda Fuchs, also of McHenry, are the paternal grand­ parents.
