READY FOR TRADE FAIR-Bob Schaefer and Keith Leathers "raise the flag" for the Chamber booth as President Trey Covalt checks the carry-all bags that will be issued to each fair-goer this weekend at the tenth annual Trade Fair at Parkland school. Hours are Friday, 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. STAFF PHOTO-ANTHONY OLIVER McHenry's annual Trade Fair is a gigantic undertaking second in the community only to Fiesta Days. Unlike the metropolitan trade shows which hire large executive staffs and union crews to produce and service a show, McHenry and other small communities must rely on community resources. The community uses its finest resource - its people - people who are willing to work together for a mutual goal and find many rewards along the way. Chamber President Trev Covalt and Trade Fair General Chairman Sue Low have taken a lead in plans for the fair and encourage a large attendance. The 1983 section chairmen include, announcements, Keith Leathers; Chamber booth, Bob Schaefer; entry decoration, McHenry Beautification committee; Clean-up, Tim Althoff; coat room, Bryce Klontz and Chuck Neugebauer; electricity, George Lane; fashion show, Bonnie Sheehan; food concessions, Maxine Moy; soda pop, Tom Low and Trey5 Covalt; hospitality room, Jack Spellman; publicity, Fran Olsen; seminars, Carol Nelson; set up, Brian Cunat: security, Sue Low; shuttle service and parking, Tim Ogurek; signs, Tom Williams; and sound system, Bill and Carol Nelson. The Trade Fair location is Parkland school at Route 120 and Ringwood road. There is unlimited free parking and no admission charge. "Teach thy tongue to say, 'I do not know.' " Talmud U.M.W. GOD BLKSb SAFETY BELTS What's the best way to get children to wear safety belts? Children, like adults, psychologists say, often resist using a safety belt or safety seat when they are first introduced to it. Youngsters, however, very quickly come to develop a feeling of comfort and security in a child safety seat. To achieve this, the seat must be used every time the child rides in the car" An explanation of what the safety seat does and how it works often helps. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, after a week or so of resistance, most children happily accept their restricted mobility and enjoy having their own special place to sit and ride safely. It will come thru bold vision, intelligent planning and hard work. It won't happen overnight, but only thru months of effort, perserverence and unfaltering faith. I believe that the way to make progress is to build on what we have, to take from the lesson of yesterday a little more wisdom and courage to meet the tasks of today. Fortunately, those who served before us had the vision, did the planning and hard work to set the stage for a better McHenry. Industrial Park land was zoned and set aside years ago. This year the utilities to serve this land are being installed. Of couse there are still details to work out and problems to solve - but I have the time and experience to help work them out. Then we will see a McHenry with nicely landscaped, diversified industrial plants that will provide jobs for our people and increase McHenrys tax base to help take some of the load off the tax bills of the home owners. In all of our endeavors, we must keep in mind that people are important. If we don't help our people then all of our ef forts will have been in vain. We shall not let that happen. A.RR.
