Even though the weather did not permit the egg hunt, each child received many colored eggs and received prizes for the ones that were marked so. Hot dogs were on the menu for the day, and to receive dessert, all you had to do was enter the cake walk and win one of the many beautifully decorated cakes or cupcakes. Orchids to everyone who so graciously donated their time, eggs or baked goodies. You all helped to make this event a success. LITTLE MISS CONTEST We now have a new Little Miss McCullom Lake. Sara Mathison, age five, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mathison was crowned queen Saturday, March 26, during the Easter carnival by the 1982 queen, Megan Farrell. The first runner-up was four year old, Diana Gates, daughter of Glenn and Donna Gates, and the second runner-up was four year old Rachel Klapperich, daughter of Rob and Val Klapperich. Congratulations to these little Misses and their families. And further congratulations are extended to the other six contestants who helped make this event. Each of these little ones is a queen in her own way. ELECTIONS The April 12 election is soon ap­ proaching. This election will consist of three (3) trustees who will each serve a four year term. Running for office are Dee Valentine, Josephine Jatczak, John (Jack) Morris, Don Milbratz and Roland Hughes. Many residents should recognize these names, since most of them have lived here for quite a few years. Good luck is extended to each candidate. Also, since the election is on the second Tuesday of April, the village board meeting will be held on Mon­ day, April 11, at 8 p.m. at the beach house. Why not plan on at­ tending? GET-WELL WISHES Jean Reid was recently hospitalized for surgery. We wish her a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her up and around soon. Ethel Reiter is back in the hospital again. We hope that it is not for long and that she will soon be home again. Mary Kantorski, one of our dearest senior citizens, had surgery recently. We hope that she is resting com­ fortably by the time she reads this. On Tuesday, March 29, while still recuperating in the hospital, Harriet McNamara celebrated her ninetieth birthday. She was surrounded by her dear friends, daughter, Jeanne, who flew in from California, son, Tom, from McHenry and son, Dick, and wife, Elaine, who brought the bir­ thday cake. Congratulations on such a special birthday, Harriet. We wish you well and hope that you are home soon. Jewish Group Holds Auction Many new items and services have been added to the storehouse of goodies waiting for the highest bidder at the auction sponsored by the McHenry County Jewish congregation. The auction will be held Sunday, April 24, at 3 p.m., at 8617 Ridgefield road, Ridgefield. The public is invited to a 2 p.m. viewing. Both practical and fun items and services will be available. A partial list includes: Goldie Hawn's dress worn in a recent TV special; an autographed hockey stick of the Chicago Blackhawks; memberships in golf and racketball clubs; hypnosis for non-smoking or weight control; limo service; personal sketch of your home; a cord of wood, etc. In addition, gift certificates and items have been donated from clothing, pharmacy, liquor, food, appliance, hardware, gift and antique stores. Boardwalk, or St. James Place become the familiar local businesses of McHenry, which can be bought, sold, or traded with the added zest of owning the business of one's dreams or bankrupting a competitor vicariously. In addition to all the McHenry businesses that make up the playing board, the "Royal listing" in the center of the board creates the "Who's Who" of the town under the heading "Royal Keepers of the Town". However, merit is not the criteria. Anyone can be listed for a fee. This personalized version of this all- time favorite commercial game is being issued by the Retail council of the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce in honor of the tenth an­ nual Trade Fair. Proceeds from the sales of the game will be used by the council to fund an extensive area-wide "Shop McHenry" program, which will benefit not only the retailers but also the entire community by returning more tax dollars to McHenry. The 1,000 games will be available at participating merchants throughout McHenry for personal use or as gift ideas. Any one business, or an in­ dividual who becomes an integral part of "the Game of McHenry" receives a free game. The current schedule calls for availability by July 15, in time for Fiesta Days. Hospital Auxiliary Offers Scholarship Opportunities The auxiliary to McHenry hospital is once again offering scholarship opportunities to high school graduating students and adults interested in pursuing a nursing career. Lillian Bolger, chairman of the Scholarship committee,, announced that an applicant must be a high school graduate (students in the class of 1983 are eligible to apply now); have been accepted in a school of nursing and have proof of acceptance; be a resident of McHenry county; furnish an official transcript of grades; provide a letter of recommendation from a school counselor or teacher; and write a brief essay on why nursing is their career choice. Share-Fun Festival 4-H members will be "stars" on the stage when their club participates in the Share-The-Fun Festival Friday, April 8. The program begins at Jacobs^ high school. The school is located 4 miles south of Crystal Lake on Randall road. The public is invited to watch the clubs perform a three-to-ten minute skit. The purpose of the program is to give members an opportunity to have fun while working together. The members produce and star in a dramatic, dance, or musical act, to show off their talents. Criteria for judging will be the student's grades, financial need, work experience, and character, as displayed in the essay. The scholarships are in the amount of $500 each. SEEK CAMPGROUND HOSTS The Department of Conservation is seeking persons to serve as cam­ pground hosts or host interpreters at Illinois state parks and conservation areas this summer, according to Charles Tamminga, DOC associate director for the Bureau of Lands and Historic Sites.
