Many actresses would be reluctant to play a woman with not only a grubby name and appearance, but one who is also the daugh ter of a carnival belly dancer and snake charmer. But Miss Burnett has no reservations about guest- starring. Unlike many celebrities who have been guests on serials recently, Miss Burnett is no soap opera dilettante. "I've watched the show for ten years," she says, "and I love it!" Miss Burnett's enthusi asm for "AMC" led her to do many soap spoofs on her variety program, "The Carol Burnett Show, which ran for 11 years. She's so much a fan of "AMC" that while she was in Toronto recently filming a cable-TV movie with Eliz abeth Taylor, she says she went "out of my way to rent a video recorder for the whole time I was there." "There's no way I would miss 'All My Children,' " she says. She has appeared on the show twice before in walk- on parts. "Actually," she says, "the 'ast time it was more Carol Burnett of a 'roll on.' I played a woman on a portable hos pital bed!" Agnes Nixon, the show's headwriter, created the part especially for Miss Burnett. Although her char acter appears only briefly, she'll have surprising impact on the show's regu lar characters. "I've got a hot love scene with Opal's boyfriend, Sam (Jason Kincaid), and I'm in Pine Valley looking for my real father," Miss Burnett explains. So could Langley Wall- ingford (Louis Edmonds) who, in reality, is ex-carni val barker Lenny Vlasic, be Verla's father? This certain ly would be unsettling news for his aristocratic and rich wife, Phoebe (Ruth Warrick). He has con vinced her that he was a respected university professor. (?) 1963 Compulog
