The form of the resume sent in application for a job and the way the individual handles himself during the interview can make the difference between winning or losing a job. McHenry County College (MCC) offers the opportunity to learn to promote oneself effectively through seminars titled "The Art of In­ terviewing" and "Resume Preparation". "The Art of Interviewing" is slated for Monday, May 2, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dennis Wentworth, MCC's director of financial aid, placement and veterans' affairs, will discuss questions likely to be asked in an interview. He will give advice on how to respond to questions and ap­ propriate communication techniques that make a good impression, as well as the little things that can spell success or failure in an interview situation. "Resume Preparation" covers the basic rules of resume writing and the various forms of resume preparation. The workshop is scheduled for Thursday,May 12, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The instructor will be Shelly Kaplan, MCC counselor. Both seminars are to be held in Room 143 at MCC, Route 14 and Lucas road. To register for the seminars it is necessary to stop in at the registration office at MCC. Registration's office hours are: Monday through Thursday from8:30a.m. to4:30p.m. and5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday from8:30a.m. to 4 p.m. Door registration will be ac­ cepted on available seating. Set Saturday Speech Class Saturday speech therapy will be offered for youngsters 3 to 8 years old who require supplementary training to correct articulation, sound sub­ stitution and errors, memory categorizing problems and auditory processing. Classes will begin Saturday, May 7, at the Easter Seal Therapy center, 708 Washington, Woodstock. Placement screenings will be held Saturday, April 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. by appointment only. The half hour class will be limited to 2 to 4 students depending on the student's needs.
