K .I AINIIKALEH-FRIDAY. MAY20,1883 Scout Improves Community in Bid For Eagle Ranking In preparation for summer, Life Scout Jim Wesseling has begun working on his Eagle project. Jim is a member of Boy Scout Troop 452, McHenry, where he holds the position of senior patrol leader. He is also the Webelos den chief of Cub Scout-Pack 349, Spring Grove and Rfchmoftd. The Eagle project involves the completion of three tasks which will prove beneficial to picnickers and canoeists in the Spring Grove area. With the help of several scouts in his troop, Jim began cleaning up litter along Route 12 on the Nippersink Canoe base property. When the cleanup is finished, Jim and his friends will scrape and paint the picnic tables at the Lyle C. Thomas Memorial park in Spring Grove. They: SPECIALS Prime Roast Sauerkraut hope to complete this part of the project soon because the recent warm weather is already bringing visitors to the park. The last part of Jim's project, which w01 involve the most work, is to establish a nature trail at the Nip persink Canoe base. The Scouts will clear a path approximately one- quarter mile in length and put down wood chips in order to make the walk from the parking area to the creek more easily accessible. When all phases of his project are completed, Jim has estimated that he and his friends will have invested about 60 hours in their work. Jim expects to finish his Eagle project in the early part of June in order to accommodate summer visitors of the park and canoe base. But the most important reason for his June deadline is that Jim and his family will be moving to Louisiana at the end of June, and he wants to be presented with his Eagle rank before he leaves. Jim is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Wesseling, Sr., of Spring Grove. He attends St. John's Catholic school in Johnsburg, from which he will be graduating May 27. At a special point in the worship service, the new members, along with their designated current- member sponsor family, were in troduced to the congregation and invited to come forward to receive a certificate of church membership from Pastor Roger W. Schneider. Following the worship service, all of the new members and their sponsors stood in a receiving line at the door of CHILDHOOD NUTRITION Ideally, children form eating styles that in clude an almost automatic choice of nutritionally correct foods. They develop an awareness that these foods should be eaten routinely. This is not an unattainable objective. If children regularly eat dairy products, citrus fruits or juices, vegetables and fruits, cereals, salads, meat, poultry, eggs, and cheese, these foods become expected parts of meals. For those children, a low nutrient dense food quickly loses its appeal. It is therefore critically important to reinforce nutritionally sound food association during childhood, since nutritional habits developed in childhood can profoundly affect eating patterns dfifl health throughout the life cycle. NEW MEMBERS OF SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS CHURCH the church to be greeted by the members of the parish, after which all were guests at a new member coffee and roll reception held in their honor in the fellowship hall of the church. The reception was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kot, and Mr. and Mrs. William Teichmiller of the Evangelism committee, and was open to the entire congregation. The sponsor families will be en-. couraged to keep their new families apprised of special church events throughout the year. It is hoped that the New Member Sponsor program at Shepherd of the Hills will create an atmosphere of warmth and welcome for these new people and encourage them to become active members of the congregation. The New Member Sponsor program is coordinated by Mrs. Stephen Arnold. In the diagram (before) below we notice five distinct changes: 1. The opposing molar may drift down wards. 2. The unprotected bone area can be in jured while chewing. 3. The neighbor teeth tilt and proper balance is destroyed. 4. The drifting teeth create food areas where decay or Pyorrhea can start. 5. Destruction to the bone will result as teeth drift and tilt. ^ In the after diagram, notice how the fixed bridge prevents these fiv* changes. HYPERTENSION •4 Hyper" means above and "tension" means" pressures in medical terminology. Hypertension means "above pressure-. Normotensive means normal pressure. The pressure is the amount of force exerted by the blood against the walls of the blood vessels, very similar to the force exerted by water in a hose. There are two measurable forces in blood pressure: When the heart is pumping, and when the heart is at rest. Systolic is the reading when the heart is pumping, and diastolic is the reading when the heart is at rest. CORRECTION Page 6 of Today's Hornsby Cir cular contain* a printing error.
