"I have a good rapport with thtf administration. I didn't know whq were all the candidates for the job.jf just pleaded my case to the board and interviewed the best I could. "Me being here for three years I'm sue helped. I was with the prograin when it started and that was an ad-i vantage. I was born and raised in tltt£ area." Roberts waisted no time as the ne^f coach, as he decided to hold a wrestling camp as his first act. Hte held the first annual Johnsburg wrestling camp this past week with a tournament held this morning to. end it. » "I'm extremely optimistic," said Roberts, looking forward to his first season as head coach next winter. The Skyhawk wrestlers suffered through a 5-13-1 season last winter. "We lost our number one man in Mike Hurckes, but we have enough young wrestlers to take his place."0. Coavalt struckout nine Algonquin batters and only allowed three hits, as the Tigers won 7-2. It was their second win of the season, as they defeated St. Charles 9-2 earlier in the spring. With the 6-2 first game loss to Algonquin, the Tigers are 2-1 in the second-year Northern Illinois baseball league. "Coavalt really blew it by," said Jim Herman, Tiger manager. "He had a good fastball going." The Tigers exploded in the first inning for four runs to take the early lead, which they never gave up. They scored three more times in the third inning. Algonquin scored one in the thrid and fourth off of Covalt. Jeff Damiani led the Tigers in hitting with three hits -- two triples and three rbi's. Steve Mai knocked in a run with a double. "The defense has been very good up to now," said Herman. "Last Sunday we didn't look very good. We made some physical and mental mistakes." Those mistakes hurt the Tigers in the second game as Algonquin pitcher Scott Meyer held the Tigers to three hits. Damiani had two of the hits. Both incident. Mike Peterson, who had walked preceding Dehn's single, scored on Gary Gilpin's base hit. Dehn scored on a Bill Meyers sacrifice fly.
