Richard N. Ziolkowski, son of Richard N. Ziolkowski, 2406 W. Johnsburg road, McHenry, have completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit depot, San Diego. During the 11-week training cycle, they learned the basics of battlefield survival. They were introduced to the Airman Qraduates Airman Chris B. White, son of Phyllis A. White of 2903 Knollwood drive, McHenry, has grauduated from the U.S. Air Force course for cable splicing specialist at Sheppard Air Force base, Texas. Graduates of the course learned how to test, seal, install and maintain communications cable systems. They also earned credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. White will now serve at McClellan Air Force base, Calif., with the 1849th Electronics Installation squadron. The airman will now receive specialized instruction in the com­ munications-electronics systems field. Texas Assignment Airman Robert P. Schmidt, son of Edward W. and DoloresG. Schmidt of 2508 W. Mehrins avenue, McHenry, has been assigned to Sheppard Air Force base, Texas, after completing Air Force basic training. During the six weeks at Lackland Air Force base, Texas, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human "relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. The airman will now receive specialized instruction in the civil engineering field. He is a 1982 graduate of Johnsburg high school. Completes Course Pvt. Anthony Lazalde, son of Gerald Lazalde of 410 Kensington drive, McHenry, has completed an Army motor transport operator course at Fort Dix, N.J. During the course, students were trained in the operation and main­ tenance of military vehicles of less than four and one-half tons rated capacity. Instruction was also given in the transportation of personnel, equipment and supplies. He is a 1981 graduate of McHenry West campus high school. s»; v SCOTT ZIMMERMAN RANDALL ZIMMERMAN MIKE ZIMMERMAN BROTHERS SERVE-Three brothers, sons of Darlene Zimmerman of Wonder Lake, are serving their country. Scott was recently promoted meritoriously to corporal. He has been stationed in Hawaii since July of 1182 and will remain there until July of 1985. He was selected as Marine of the Month and Marine of the Quarter by officers of Camp Smith, received a Meritorious Mast for Iris performance, initiative, loyalty, dedication to duty and / knowledge of past and current events. The young man graduated from McHenry high school in 1981. Staff Sgt Randall is stationed at the Marine corps Finance center in Kansas City, Mo. He has been In the corps since November of 1973. Mike, a graduate of McHenry high school in 1978, has been in the active Reserves unit in Waukegan he Joined five years ago. Randall is a graduate of Crown high school, Carpentersville. Green, McHenry, has completed recruit training, at the Naval Training center, Orlando, Fla. During the eight-week training cycle, trainees studied general themfar further academic andof^thcs job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic occupational fields. Included in their studies were seamanship, close order drill, Naval history and first aid. Graduates of the coiirse learned procedures for receiving, storing and issuing petroleum products, and earned credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. Smithson will now serve at Castle Air Force base, Calif., with the 93rd Supply squadron. He is a 1982 graduate of East campus high school, McHenry. Delayed Enlistment Russell L. Diedrick, son of David Diedrick and Elizabeth Sunburg of McHenry, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force's Delayed Enlistment program recently, according to T Sgt. Mike Zelez, Air Force recruiter, 386 Virginia street, Crystal Lake, 111. During the course, students were trained Uy install, service and repair Army teletype sets. . K. L. KLINE ' YNSN Karyn L. Kline, daughter of Betty D. Kline, of 2617 Myang Ave., McHenry, has been promoted to Petty officer Yoeman 3rd Class. She spent 1% years in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii working at the Naval Regional Medical clinic. Upon entering Yeoman Class "A" course Karyn worked at Naval Technical Training center in Meridian, Miss. . The training provided is intensive and time allowed is limited to only seven weeks, YNSN Kline completed her course in only 15 working days. She is a 1982 graduate of McHenry East campus high school. PROMOTED Marine Lance Cpl. Kenneth Gr Torkelson, Jr., son of Kenneth G. Torkelson of Antioch and Judith A. Czech of 2509 N. Martin road, McHenry, has been promoted to his present rank while serving at the Marine corps Air station, Yuma, Aria. Completes Basic Aviation School Navy Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Apprentice Richard L. Klein, son of Richard T. and Barbara M. Klein of 4403 Ringwood road, Wonder Lake, was graduated from Basic Aviation Ordnanceman school. " During the nine-week course at the Naval Air Technical Training center, Millington, Tenn., students received an introduction to aviation ordnance fundamentals, including small arms, aviation munitions and gun systems.
