This season the East dominated by whitewashing the 'Western Stars 8-0 in game one and continued in game two with a 12-7 •victory. c Defense was the key in the East's 'game one victory as Fox Hole short- •stop Ron Miller was the key in turning *three doubleplays. Pitcher John •Michels helped his own cause as time and again he had the Western hitters Swinging at bad pitches. The Eastern Stars tallied two runs in the first inning, as they started rolling early on. The Fox Hole trio of Ron Miller, Jim Yaworski and Joe Dehn combined for back-to-back hits; >Dehn getting an RBI double. - The league's leading hitter, Gary 4Gilpin, was thrown out at first when 'Lakeside shortstop Jim Szamlewski •made a great stop deep in the hole. •Tom Prudden, West End outfielder, retaliated by hitting a fly deep enough fto right center to bring in the second Wi. • The West's Doug Freund made two excellent running catches in each of the next two innings, while pitcher A1 ^Stilling stopped a hard grounder up the middle as the Rusty Nail duo helped hold the East scoreless. The East struck with their third run jn the fifth as John Michels singled, moved to third on Vinnie Freund's second hit and scored on Jim Gray's sacrifice fly to left center. < Western defense stopped another East rally in the sixth.
