The City of Chicago has made its trademark on the foot-race. Chicago native Daye Valentine completely took over the seven-mile run Tuesday evening and captured the McHenry title. Although Crystal Lake's Gayle Peterson was the first lady to cross th4 finish line, Belida Bay of Chicago was second. Valentine, 21-years-old, took the title with a time .of 34:10.3 His nearest competitor was Jim Wheeler of McHenry who finished in a time of 35:39.0. Valentine had created such a large lead at the half-way mark, it was almost certain he would have no problem taking the race at that point. "This was a good day for me," said the North Park University track athlete. "I played it smart. I let everybody who wanted their picture taken sprint out first.
