Krilich and Richard Hyatt, president of Lakemoor with the itiajority approval of the Board of Trustees, Lakemoor became a community of over three times its original size. IDENTIFICATION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS Thursday, August 4, will be a busy day at the Senior Citizen Meet and Eat Center on Route 120. Starting at 10 a.m. through 2 p.m., information and pictures for identifying purpose will be taken. I.D. cards will be issued, a service of the Senior Citizen Council, State of Illinois, Dorothy Loss is site manager. Then the free blood pressure screening starts at 11 a.m., with volunteer hostess Julia Kraus assisting. Luncheon follows for those with reservations. The Moose Lodge will be a very busy place on Thursday, Aug. 4 with three different reasons for seniors to be there. BICYCLIST INJURED Returning home on his bicycle from some of McHenry Fiesta Days ac­ tivities on Monday, July 25, Chris Mumma was aware of an approaching s. motorist who seemed determined to use the whole lane. Chris went off the shoulder of Lily Lake road, but was hit by the outside mirror on the vehicle. The driver slowed down after the impact, but then drove on without checking into Chris' injuries. The doctors examination showed a very bruised arm, with an X ray to be taken later to determine the possibility of a broken bone. Chris was hurting physically on Tuesday, plus being disappointed that he was unable to compete in the 7 mile river run that he had signed up for, during the Fiesta Day events. The driver of the car was not ap­ prehended, but whoever it was, knows that a wrong has been done. MOVING ON AND MOVING BACK Roger and Cindy Barker and their two sons, Tim and Jeffrey, have left Lilymoor for a new home in Kent Acres. They will be missed by neigh­ bors, especially Sam Sances. The move is just a few miles, so friend­ ships will not be forgotten. Timmy will be able to continue his interest in the history of our country with his reading of books about the wars our people have fought in. His thirst for knowledge of the Civil War and World Wars I and II, keep those books off the shelves of the McHenry Nunda library. Moving into the Barkers' former home on Friendly avenue is former resident, Marilyn Ryan and her two children. Welcome back Marilyn. It is nice to have you home again. LADIES LEAGUE Helen Para, president of the Lily Lake Ladies League, out did herself as hostess at their last meeting in July. Her delicious and generous delicacies were enjoyed after the bunco playing, which resulted in a first prize for Connie O'Rourke, and a tie-breaker giving Julia Kraus second, and Sophie Patterson the booby prize. RECOGNITION OF SPECIAL DAYS Birthdays recognized this week include two in the Hueckstaedt family. Charles, Jr., also Dutch, has his day on the fourth, one day before nephew Chris Mumma has his. With the concern for the recovery of Chris' father, Dick Mumma, who underwent surgery at Lutheran General hospital in Parte Ridge last Thursday for a skull fracture, the usual excitement of birthday celebrations for members of the clan will be missing. May next year's recognition days be the more meaningful for the pain being endured now. Othele Brady of Lakemoor will be celebrating her natal day on August 5. Our wishes for her happiness join those of family and friends. Billy Anderson's birthday is also on the fifth. Two Lilymoor residents have the same date as their birthdays. Normie Croswell and Bob Dawdy share August 6. August 7 is a memorial day for Max Dawdy, Bob and Evelyn's oldest son, who died last year. Goldie Withrow of Lakemoor celebrates her day on August 7. The same date is anniversary time for Terrence and Judith Bird, who will be remembering their wedding 18 years ago. MARK TWAIN COUNTRY VISITED Tim and Jeffrey Barker, sons of Roger and Cindy, had an enjoyable trip with their grandparents, Lloyd and Helen Barker. They went to Hannibal, Mo. and walked the same streets that Sam Clemens knew as a youngster, memories of which led to the writing of the Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The Barkers also shared Illinois history at New Salem State park, the reconstructed area of Abraham Lincoln's years there. Timmy will especially remember this trip with his grandparents. The Sunday evening program Will begin at 7 p.m. Bishop O'Neill's subject will be the pastoral letter on war and peace which was recently completed by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops. The pastoral letter declares that "Peace making is not an optional commitment. It is a requirement of our faith". It further states that "As a people we must refuse to legitimate the idea of nuclear war." Also featured on the Sunday evening program will be Geoff Wilkinson, a 1973 Elgin high school graduate and peace activist who now lives in Boston. Prior to the program, the 1963 Academy award nominated documentary film, "'Gods of Metal", will be shown starting at 6 p.m. Other activities planned for the weekend by the Interfaith Peace Task Force are a Friday noon vigil for peace in Fountain Square and a Saturday 5 a.m. sunrise service on the grounds of the Unitarian Universalist church located on Randall road, one half mile north of Big Timber road.
