"4-H is special. What other group teaches so much while having so much fun? Throughout my nine years in the Hebron Helping Hands 4-H club, I have been privileged to work with all kinds of people from all areas of the country. 4-H gives one so many opportunities, allowing a single person to become a part of an enormous youth group. I am proud to be a member of 4-H," Dennis said. Todd Borchardt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Borchardt, Wonder Lake, is a member of the Greenwood Gremlins 4-H Club. 4-H projects he is enrolled in include beef, ceramics and bicycle. "I will be a senior in the fall at Woodstock High School where I have been involved in wrestling. I am president of the Greenwood Gremlins 4-H club. My pro jects include beef production, livestock judging, safety, ceramics and bicycling. I am a junior leader in beef, ceramics, and safety. I also attended National Safety Congress for my achievements in safety. 4-H has taught me many important things such as leadership, keeping records, deal ing with people and most of all, respon sibility," Todd said. Robert Beaulieu, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Beaulieu, Harvard, is a member of the Hebron Helping Hands 4-H Club. 4-H projects he is enrolled in include veterinary science, photography and gardening and beef. "I'm glad I joined 4-H because without it, I would have gone through life not know ing what it was like to do many of the things that 'country' kids do. The main im portance about 4-H is that it gives us the medium to make friends. With friends you can make your years with 4-H go as swiftly or slowly as possible. In August, I will be heading to a campus with a population of over 42,000 people. That means I will have to start all over and build up a new group of friends. With the experience gained from 4-H, I think it's going to be easy," he added. Tim VanAcker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward VanAcker, Huntley, is a member of the Huntley Harvesters 4-H Club. 4-H pro jects he is enrolled in include his major project of dairy. "In the last nine years as a member of the Huntley Harvesters 4-H Club, I've had many rewarding experiences. Because of my activities, I em now better prepared to take on new responsibilities and prepare for my future career. Don Gieseke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gieseke, Crystal Lake, is a member of the Crystal Lake Workers 4-H Club. 4-H pro jects he is enrolled in include raising beef animals. "I am a nine-year member of the Crystal Lake Workers. My projects over the years have included gardening, model building, photography, tractor care and crops, but my favorite of all is beef. In beef I have participated in all areas actively. From these projects, I have had success and some failure, but I have learned valuable lessons from these experiences. Through 4-H I have gained friendship and respon sibility by serving in offices on the club and county levels. I have tried to serve my country and community by helping other 4-Hers," Don said. Bruce Meier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Meier, Crystal Lake, is a member of the Crystal Lake Workers 4-H Club. 4-H pro jects he is enrolled in include tractor and commercial garden projects. 'Tv^been a member of the Crystal Lake Workers 4-H Club for the past seven years.
