One in­ troduces the players and the other introduces the play that goes on in a. forest. To meet the players, join Bryan Petrucci and Betsy Childs at Hickory Grove Conservation site at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. They'll walk the 14-mile trail and help participants to recognize trees including white oaks, bur oaks, black cherries, shagbark hickories, and a mystery tree they hope to figure out by then. They'll demonstrate how to use Forest Trees of Illinois to key out tree identities, and will have extra copies on sale. As for the play, John Shiel and Betsy Childs will point out and in­ terpret the action in the oak-hickory CLIP AND SAVE FOR REFERENCE! forest in the Kunde Woods portion of Marengo Ridge Conservation site. They'll walk the Vmile trail loop at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3. The theme of the forest competition will enliven the several scenes of this play on the trail. Q.
