Sept. 5 marked a special occasion in the home of Joanne and Steve Davis of Highland Shores. Their daughter Christie blew out one candle on her birthday cake signifying her first birthday. Helping Christie celebrate this special event was her big sister Stacey, who is four and a half: old. Cliff Spencer, a freshman this year at Woodstock High School, will be celebrating his birthday Sept. 13. Cliff has been busy lately practicing with the freshman football team so I hope he has enough energy left to open a few presents! FISHING DERBY If you are an avid fisherman or just happen to hook that super catch and you are 16 or younger, remember that the Wonder Lake Lion's club is sponsoring a Fishing Derby. FORMER RESIDENT DIES Roxie Breuer, a young woman who had suffered with such dignity for many years, passed sway Saturday, Aug. 27, in Barrington. Being given only a short while to • live, which turned out to be much longer than the doctors thought, Roxie once told me that no one really knows when the end will come and that maybe there was else she was to sccomplish. She endless sufferings to face not only physically but emotionally as well, and she did it with the grace of a true Christian lady. She did accomplish much in her thirty-five years (she was to celebrate her thirty-sixth birthday Aug. 31). The number of friends who will miss her but are happy to see her suffering end, is an ac­ complishment that many people never attain. Arpa Church Shows Film Featuring Billy Graham Renowned evangelist Billy Graham is the featured speaker in Crisis In Hie Home, a motion pic­ ture that addresses die problems faced , by many contemporary families. The film, produced by World Wide Pictures, is scheduled to be showh. at Chain O'Lakes Evangelical Covenant Church, 4815 N. Wilmot Road, 9unday, Sept. 16. The presentation is open to the public free of charge, and will begin at 7 p.m. following a church potluck dinner. For years, Dr. Graham has given much attention to the rising divoftre rate and the deterioration of family relationships. Nearly all of his crusades include at least one message on the family, and ac­ cording to his staff, the meetings at which he speaks on the family draw the largest crowds. - In Crisis In The Home, Graham offers six keys to a happy home and a successful marriage, based on the teachings of the Bible. Among the graduates was Martin Lee Zuler, 702 S. Rt. 31, McHenry. He received a BSED degree During the ceremony, officials honored U.S. Rep. Claude Pepper of Florida with an honorary doctor of laws degree. Pepper, a Democrat and Southern Baptist; has been a leading voice in Congress on matters relating to senior citizens.
