Kielas has been named director of nursing services at Memorial Hospital in Woodstock, Lee Pesce, executive director, has announced. Her experience provides her with excellent credentials to assume this responsibility, Pesce Observed, as he discussed hor and prrfflff training. Her work experience includes staff nursing responsibilities at Presbyterian-StLuke's Hospital and t General Hoffpftwl She then served as nurse clinician and surgical head nurse at Lutheran General Hospital. • In 1960, Mrs. Kielas assumed responsibilities as director of nursing for the Illinois Hospital Association and did extensive work in representing the concerns of hospital nursing personnel throughout the state. She has worked closely with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals on standards development, the nnn«i« Department of Public Health on hospital licensure, and the TiHnnin Department of Registration iffiuratifln on nursing licensure criteria. She most recently served as a consultant to the American Hospital Association on the design of its Nurse Executive Development program. Mrs. Kielas has also consulted on federal reimbursement for hospice care and the effects on nursing care with the implementation of prospective reimbursement for Medicare patients. While with the Illinois Hospital Association, she was also involved in state legislative issues which affect nursing and hospitals. She was instrumental in the growth and development of the Illinois Society for Nurse Administrator's legislative network. RAMESH VEMURI Ramesh Vemuri, M.D. will be honored at the annual dinner of the Family Service & Community Mental Health Center for McHenry County to be held Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Branded Steak House in Crystal Lake. Dr. Vemuri is the recipient of this year's Staff Service Award given annually to a center employee who has done an exemplary job in his position in the center. Dr. Vemuri, medical director of the center since 1979, has been instrumental in the development I ~ % > of comprehensive psychiatric services in McHenry County. Dr. Vemuri also serves as clinical director for the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Memorial Hospital in Woodstock and has been a key figure in this program's growth and development over the past two years. The award winner, a graduate of the Chicago Medical School, is on the staff of Memorial Hospital for McHenry County, McHenry Hospital, Forest Hospital in Des Plaines, and St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin. Dr. Vemuri is a member of the Amer ican Psychia t r ic Association and is a board certified psychiatrist. Other highlights at the annual dinner include the presentation of the Community Service Award to Bertha Tammeus, director of Community Services of Church Women United - Lake Region, and Years of Service awards to Ted Graves, Pat Freund, Scott Campbell and Virginia O'Hare.
