At the Wonder Lake Bible Church that is true in a number of families as sons enter the same field of service as their fathers, especially - among the missionary families. The newest missionaries from the church are father and son. The Rev. Richard N. Wright and his son, Rick Wright, both entered the mission field in 1962. The Rev. Wright, former pastor of the church, entered the mission field as general director of the Illinois Bible Church Mission, headquartered in Wonder Lake, in January of 1982. The Mission provides assistance to communities desiring to start an independent Bible cnurch. In this capacity, the Rev. Wright and his wire, Velma, travel nundreds of miles throughout the state of Illinois, visiting a variety of communities and church groups. The Rev. Wright is able to draw from his 26% years of experience as a pastor as he advises and counsels with new churches and their pastors. He also serves as director of the Seamen's International Christian Association, a mission group that ministers to seamen aboard ships all over the world. TTiis mission was founded by the Rev. Wright's father. He and his family, consisting of wife, Velma, and sons, Tom and Dave, reside in Wonder Lake. Tom is presently a student at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, and Dave is a student at Trinity College in Deerfield. Rick Wright, the Rev. Wright's oldest son, also entered the mission field in 1982. He and his wife, Donna, and their three sons, Scott, Steve and Todd, left Wonder Lake in August of 1982 to begin serving at Camp Forest Springs in Westboro, Wis. Tnere, Rick puts to good use his skills as a plumber and his experience in building three homes for himself, as he serves in the maintainance department of the camp. 0 Both men and their families will be participating in annual Missionary Conference at the Wonder Lake Bible Church to be held Saturday, Oct 15, and Sunday, Oct. 16. The sessions on Saturday will begin at 9 a.m. with coffee and continue until about 3:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Those planning to attend should make reservations by calling the church at 728-0422. The public is invited to attend all or any part of the conference. Other participants include, Bob Repke of the newly formed Harvard Bible Church and Bill Dillon of Inner City Impact. Christian Science lecture J The only answer to the endless cycle of dissatisfaction and disappointment in each person's experience is to lead a God- centered life rather than a self- centered life, says a Christian Science lecturer. Ada P. Mondino of Montevideo, Uruguay, who will be speaking Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. at The Christian Science Society on 1511 Eastwood Lane, says that as each person strives for a ChrisUy-motivated life we are fulfilled and enriched beyond anything the world offers. And, because this is the love that comes from God, maintains the lecturer, it is absolutely reliable and steady. But this love that comes from God is not human love, says Mrs. Mondino, the kind of love that is selfish and limited, including both good and evil, virtues and defects. "God's love is perfect, and since it is perfect there is no evil in it." Mrs. Mondino, who is giving this lecture on behalf of Christian Science Society, says a distinction can be made between human love and divine Love. "Divine Love always promotes the unfolding of spiritual good in ourselves and others. It makes us feel more freedom, security, and peace. But if the love we are expressing makes us or others feel dependent, or hinders in son** way the unfoldment of otfft spiritual nature, then it ia»t divine but a human- sense love, undependable an® temporary. To reach a moflg consistent and divine expression of love, we really need a changB of heart that purifies oiff motives, and leads us to wan# God, Spirit." Mrs. Mondino is active in th# practice of Christian healing » an integral part of the teaching of the Cnurch of Christff Scientist. Mrs. Mondino5* lecture, "-Da, You Need a Change of Heart* is free and open to the publie. A member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship Mrs. Mondino will be introduce by Dennis Marunde.
