McCullom Lake: SECTION 2 - PAC.E 13 - PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY. OCTOBER It, IfM,;. ICE FISHING DERBY SET Nine members were present at the Sept. 27 McCullom Conservation Club meeting held at the beach house. Dredging has been completed for this year. Leveling of the berm at the Lakeland Park beach will also be completed this year. The club is working on stocking more Northerns in the lake this fall. The fish are very expensive, so if anybody would like to donate some of the necessary funds, please do so. Harvey May is the President of this fine organization, so please contact him. The annual Ice Fishing Derby is tentatively set for Jan. 21 and 22,1984. The sole purpose of this club is the preservation of McCuDom Lake, our lake. The club meets once a month on the third Tuesday in rotation between the beach house, the Lakeland Park Community House and the Spojnia Barn. Why not plan on attending these informative meetings? BEACH GALS MEET The October meeting was held last Wednesday evening at Sandy Lasco's home with ten girls in attendance, including a new face, Bev Hoffman. There was a variety of business discussed, but the main topic was the upcoming Halloween party to be held Monday, Oct. 31 from 6:30 through 8 p.m. It should be a lot ofmn for all the children who reside in the village. A special addition this year for the daring will be a spook house that will be sure to scare even the bravest. Tliere will be a lot of work involved and so therefore, Saturday Oct. 29,at 7 p.m., has been set aside for all the decorating and setup. This is tot the Bead Gals, their strong husbands and anyone who would like to lend help to this most worthwhile event. The evening will end with games and pizza, fi is asked only that you bring chips and dip and your own beverage. The Christmas Bazaar is coming up Nov. 12. All Beach Galsare asked to bring two cakes before the 12th to either Linda Bacon . (385-7415) or Laurie Olson (344-3864). Rental space is still available. Everyone agreed that the meetinfl was a nice change at a home. The ladies enjoyed three fun games and then pecan cake andlce cream with coffee. The fall floral centerpiece was won by Donna Gates. The next meeting, which is Nov. 2, will be held at Linda Bacon's home. Plan on attending. There will be a lot of fun. Dawn Miller 385-4901 THE RUNNER Mitch Kopczyk participated in the Hun for Poland 10 K race held Sunday, Oct. 2, in Chicago and he came in first place. Mitch is the proud son of A1 and Lottie Kopczyk on Park View. He also has a very dear sister, Sue, who attends all his races and jots down all these notes for the column. We also are very proud of you, Mitch. Keep up tne good work. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday wishes for this week go to Orville Brandt on Oct. 12.
