Crane to hold meeting T w e 1 f t h D i s t r i c t Congressman Philip Crane will hold a town meeting in Woodstock Sunday, Oct. 23. All residents of the 12th District are invited to attend. The town meeting will be held at the Woodstock High School, located at 501 West South Street. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. for the meeting, which will take place from 1 to 2:30p.m. There is plenty of room for parking on school property. ^ * Congressman Crane will open the meeting with a discussion of developments in the nation's capital which he believes will be of most interest to those in at­ tendance, including the recent cooling of relations between the United States and the Soviet 'Union. Following remarks by Congressman Crane, the meeting will be open to questions from the audience. This will present constituents with an opportunity to talk about what's on their minds. C a s e w o r k e r s f r o m Congressman Crane's office will be available at the meeting to assist with in­ dividual problems. McHonry Hospital (Northern Illinois Medical Center) is presenting its third annual Yellow Brick Road, a special health fair for children, designed to introduce youngsters to the workings of a hospital. Because many children do not experience a hospital setting unless they or a loved one are ill, the Yellow Brick Road program is designed to help allay any fears a child might nave, whether they are a prospective patient or are merely curious about what happens in a hospital. Over 2,250 children in kindergarten through third grade have visited the program this week, coming from McHenry, Crystal Efcke, Woodstock, Richmorta, Fox Lake and surrounding communities. The public is invited to attend Yellow Brick Road from 9 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, Oct. 22. Tour groups consist of eight to 10 children, and there will be no reservations for the Saturday tours, which will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Location of Yellow Brick Road is the Carey House, a red brick building at the east end of Waukecan Road, beyond the hospital parking lot. /~ Each of the rooms in the Carev House has been transformed into a particular hospital setting, including admitting, respiratory therapy, the emergency department, a typical pediatric patient room, radiology, surgery and the laboratory. Backdrops for the settings are scenes from the Wizard of Oz, and the tour guides are dressed as the main characters from Oz, including Dorothy, the Good Witch, the Wicked Witch, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow. In each setting visitors will meet the professionals who staff these departments in the hospital, and have the opportunity t to learn how these special areas function. Visiting children receive nurse or doctor caps, tote bags, wrist bands, surgical masks and caps and an apple from the Good Witch. Prior to each tour, children see Tommy Trauma films, meet their tour guide and prepare for their journey down the yellow brick road. There is no charge for the program.
