Milk producers association elects district officers PAGE f - PLAINDEALER - WEDNE8DAY, DECEMBER 7.1M Nearly 200 dairy farmer members of Associated Milk Producers, Inc. attended the annual District S-C meetings held in Harvard and Sycamore. Members from McHenry, DeKalb, Lake, Kane, Cook, Kendall and DuPage counties and Darts of LaSalle and Will counties discussed regional operations and held local efecttmis. AMPI corporate and regional treasurer, William Lenschow, also the regional director, was the main speaker. Lenschow addressed the members on Rockford calf sale Dec. 13 The second annual Northeastern Illinois certified preconditioned calf sale will be held Tuesay, Dec. 13, hegtanjng at 7 p.m. a t DeWane livestock Exchange Belvidere. Preconditioning is a c o m p l e t e nutrition-health- management program which prepares the nursing calf to better withstand weaning stress and make fast, efficient gains in later feeding programs. To be "certified - preconditioned", calves must meet several requirements, including being weaned at least 30 days before the sale, castrated, dehorned, bunk broke, immunized, t r e a t e d . f o r parasites, individually ident i f ied , and certified in writing. Three hundred certified preconditioned calves will be at thi&year's and wiD avai lable viewingv beginning at 6 p.m. on the thirteenth. Consisting of individual dairy farmer members across the central United States, AMPI produced 15.7 billion pounds of milk last year or 12 percent of the nation's milk production. Never allow a young sitter to accept em ployment where parents of the child are careless about how late they return home. Require that your youngster be brought home by an adult if he or she is going to be out after dark.
