Burglary discovered at local store McHenry Police are in­ vestigating an attempted burglary at the Hostess Thrift Shop, 3315 W. Pearl St., McHenry. The store supervisor called the police at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 26 when he noticed that a safe in his office had been severely damaged. The would-be thieves were unable to open the safe. Likewise, the intruders failed to open a cash register and left empty-handed.
