I»H:I let's talk Unbeaten slowdown marks park basketball action Henehan and Mclntyre will < meet Christopher's Men's Wear in a showdown between two undefeated men's park district basketball teams next Wed nesday. Both teams are currently 4-0 going into the final game of the .first round. Henehan and Mclntyre swept both aside Sullivan Foods 66-55 in their last outing. Bill Henehan's hot hand in the first half (14 points) had the winners up by as much as 18 points at one time, Mike Rablehofer brought Sullivan's within eight points towards the end of the first half. During the second half, Sullivan rallies closed the Henehan lead to just four points as Joe John, Jeff Varda and Mike Rabelhofer hit key buckets. The winners balanced attack of Bill Henehan (24 points), Barry Nichols (15 points) and Scott Naperman (12 points) proved too much for Sullivan's to overcome. Mike Rabelhofer's 16 points, plus Joe John's 12 points were tops for Sullivan Foods. £.M.W. 77 John's 3? Christopher's Men's Wear built up a 36-10 lead at halftime over a frigid shooting Little John's squad. In the second half Christopher's .continued to roll as they cruised to a 77-39 vic tory. It was their fourth straight. Don Harris led all scorers with 22 points. Willie Howard added 12 coming off the bench for the winners. Gary Snell and Dan Stanowski chipped in 10 points each. Bob Fowler scored 12 points with six buckets to lead Little John's. S.F.I. 66 Lake's 39 Five of the six State Farm Insurance ballplayers scored in double figures to help even their record at 2-2 with a convincing 66-39 "victory over Lakes Cable vision. John Sytsma and Ron Glawe had 14 points each to lead State Farm Insurance, while Earl Vandewege and Greg Davis added 12 each. Gary Garde chipped in 40 points. Vic Santi and Randy Bock scored 10 points each for Lake's Cable. League leaders After four games the top ten scoring leaders show Bill Henehan's 94 points (23.7 PPG) as tops. Win 300 fails to elude Ken" Ludwig/ A big tip of the fedora to coach Ken Ludwig of the McHenry Warriors. His Warriors presented him with his 300th coaching win of his career on Tuesday when they whipped Downers Grove North 69-41 in the Wheeling Holiday Tourney. Victories are not easy to come by in McHenry. In Ludwig's first season, the Warriors went 0-21. Probably any other --i coach would have packed up and lefMbut,^-*™^ mu, . ... the veteran mentor stuck it out. This wiU be a six team affair. On the Sidetin Dick Rabbitt While the Warriors have had some lean seasons under Ludwig, they have also had their winning seasons. Probably the greatest win of his career was on the night of March 12, 1976. His Warriors defeated Rockford Guilford and qualified for the Sweet 16. About the only goal the veteran coach has not reached is a conference championship for his Warriors. We hope that is the next milestone in his career. So in behalf of all Warrior fans we would like to extend out congratulations to Ken Ludwig and hope the next 300 wins come easier than the last 300. •••. Mike Shanahan's Water Warriors lost a dual meet to Woodstock last week. The Blue Streaks won 91-75, but the veteran coach was pleased with Terry Harth, Greg Hall and Craig Karcyznski and the 400-yard freestyle relay team. Harth captured the 200 and 500-yard freestyle, Hall won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle and Karcyznski won the 100-yard but terfly. The 400-yard freestyle team in cluded Bob Betancourt, Karcyznski, Harth and Hall. ••• McHenry High School will host the IHSA boys' basketball regionals in early with the Warriors, Woodstock, John- sburg, Crystal Lake Central, South and Cary-Grove.
