Jim Solderholm, chairman of the event, said that registration for participants will be held at the The Timbers restaurant, 2219 S. Illinois 47, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Coffee and rolls will be served. Snowmobilers trom across McHenry County are invited to participate. The ride is open to anyone who has snowmobile certification or a driver's license. Although lesser amounts will be accepted, Solderholm said the club is requesting minimum pledges of 20 cents per mile in order to raise as much money as possible for the squad. This year the run will be held with the goal of purchasing a radio telemetry unit, estimated to cost $6,300. "The 'Ride for Life' allows us to do that as well as to enjoy and participate in our sport." For more information about the event, call Solderholm evenings at 338-1364. McHenry area drivers may have noticed the downed traffic signal at the intersection of Elm and Front Streets in McHenry recently. The signal was the victim of a car-pole collision that occurred when the brakes failed on a vehicle operated by James C. Powers, 2106 N. Chapel Hill Road, McHenry. Powers told police the car's brakes failed as he was driving north on Front Street. Powers was cited for driving with defective brakes. A two-car collision at the intersection of Main and Third Streets resulted in citations being issued to both drivers involved. La Verne C. Hay, 3712 W. Waukegan Road, McHenry, said he was stopped on Third Street and, not seeing any traffic, pulled out into the intersection. Driving west on Main Street was a vehicle operated by Deanna K. Gardner, 406 Shepherd Hill Road, McHenry. Hay was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way. Ms. Gardner was ticketed for violation of the child restraint law. One woman was injured in a two-car collision in the 3800 block of Elm Street. Marie T. Otto, 4222 Crestwood, McHenry, was taken to McHenry Hospital by the McHenry Fire Department for examination and treatment. Mrs. Otto was a passenger in a car driven by Pam L. Otto, 2650 N. Mason St., Chicago. The Otto vehicle was struck in the rear by an auto driven by William J. Betian, 216 Brown, Forest Park, IL. Betian was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an ac cident. Susan M. Paul, 7405 Oakwood, Wonder Lake, escaped injury when the car she was driving struck deep snow in thtf 6400 block of Bull Valley Road and rolled into a ditch. Bruce N. Alexander, 7702 Howe Road, Wonder Lake, was ticketed by county police for improper passing (no passing zone) following a two-car collision at River and Coral Roads, Wonder Lake. Alexander said he thought a vehicle driven by Michael C. DeBenedetto, Antioch, was making a right turn. Alexander attempted to pass on the left, when the other vehicle made a left turn. The report noted the area was clearly marked as a no passing zone. No citations were issued in a similar collision because of conflicting reports as to which way one vehicle was signalling. John E. Hunt, 816 West Blvd., McHenry, said a car driven by Helen M. Bur lack, 7716 Beach, Wonder Lake, was signalling a right turn when he attempted to pass on the left. Ms. Burlack said she %as signalling a left turn when the collision ocqurred . All Chamber members and guests are welcome to attend, by reser vation. This will be the first of a bi monthly series of gatherings that have been planned specifically for the interests of the Professional and Financial community, but are being made available for the benefit of any members of the McHenry business community who wish to participate. These luncheon presentations have a two-fold goal: to provide a meeting place for the Council members where they can informally share in terests and-or concerns, and to feature a presentation on a topic that is targeted to the needs of the council members. "Staff Motivation and Goal Setting" is the topic of the Feb. 8 luncheon presentation. Dr. Frederick Hult, the Professional Council coordinator, has a special dedication to the ef ficiency of office procedures and believes he can assist his council associates by sharing his knowledge and experience with them. He will be the presenter for . this inaugural meeting, as well as the host for the event. "Life without goals is like a > ship without a rudders If you don't know where you are going, how can you get there?" ex- - plained Hult in describing the need for this subject. "Whatever ; the application, you must be able to mentally picture your goal: you have to see it in order to produce it," he added. In addition to teaching methods of how to achieve goals, Dr. Hult will distribute an unique outline entitled "Positive Habit Conditioning Program" to each guest. The ways and means to high productivity are no mystery, according to Dr. Hult. "More efficiency means more profit. That can only enhance the icaliber of professional services and permit more time for patient or client attention," Hult stated. This topic can apply as well to one's personal life by putting higher quality and productivity into all personal • endeavors. Dr. Hult has been in ' chiropractic practice in * McHenry for the past two years. Reservations and menu selections can be made by calling the Chamber office at 385-4300. The chamber en courages all members to take advantage of this enriching event Feb. 8, beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Village Squire Restaurant.
