The Skyhawks will travel to Round Lake on Friday and then host Marengo on Saturday. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. This will be the second time around in the NWSC. During the first round, Skyhawks edged Round Lake 56-52, but lost to )&onfterence leading Marengo 58- i 4STJohnsburg currently holds a 2-5 record in the NWSC, while Round Lake holds the basement at 1-6. "We're now starting the second round of of conference play and we're looking to im prove our conference record. We would like to be above .500 for the second round," said John sburg coach Ben Beck. If the Skyhawks were to do that, anything less than a split of the two games would be critical. Beck is concern with both games. "Round Lake is playing better than earlier, although not winning. We don't want to be the first to lose to them They have improved a lot." Marengo's undefeated record in the NWSC proves not too many team have had much success against the Indians. "They're real tough," said Beck. "When we played them, we gave them a good ballgame. We will have to play a even better ballgame Saturday." One advantage the Skyhawks will have this time around against Marengo will be the home court. "Hopefully we will get some support from our fans and inspire our kids to play better," said Beck. Beck warns his Skyhawks will have to contain the Indians' Jeff Williams this time around. Williams scored 19 points for Marengo. In another NWSC game Friday, Marian Central will take on Marengo. STAFF PHOTO-MIKE LAMB Sobczak is looking for a improvement this year from last year's sixth place finish. Here, the referee explains his ruling to Sobczak during one of the matches last year's FVC meet at Jacobs High School. WARRIOR continued from page 24 Water Warriors blast Zion-Benton Heading the list of talented wrestlers at 126 is Bill Rich of Woodstock, currently 22-1 on the season. Dan Mohnen at heavyweight, also has good chance to gain a seeding. But he also will face some stiff competition. Only seven heavyweights will par ticipate and Sobczak said "Mohnen will have to do some wrestling." -Mohnen was also 4-2 in the fVC, while 18-11 overall. He has racked up 14 pins so far this season, which is just two shy of the school record of 16. Roland Hunt may also receive a seeding. He recorded a 3-1 FVC mark at 145-pounds and was 17-11-1 overall. Although not sporting as good as record as some of the others, freshman Chris Mann could be a candidate for placing according to Sobczak. He has a 3-2 FVC record and is 14-9 overall. What Sobczak likes about his lineup, compared to previous years, is balance. "There is more mature ex perience on this team than on any other team I have had. The last couple years we have been very good at the lightweights, but would lose points at the upper weights. This team is more even, and that has helped the team attitude." Russ Bunday will fill the 105- pound slot, holding a 4-2 record in the FVC and 19-10 overall. Roger March, another fresh men, will take on 112-pound wrestlers with a 3-0 FVC record and 5-1 overall. Eric Gaza, at 132-pounds, will also be facing some stiff com petition. He split the season between 132-pouncfeand U2&, but i *has only one matcbat 132 in FVC action. Sobczak isn't concerned. "He's an upperclassmen now and he knows what he's doing." Gaza lost his only match at 132 in the FVC, but was 2-2-1 at 126. He is 11-11-1. At 138 will be Ray Lance who is 1-2-1 in the FVC and 4-2-1 overall. As it stands now, Sobczak said he will leave 155- pounds open. He said he might change his mind. The 167-pound spot was still undetermine as of Tuesday. A battle between Dennis Gaines and Bob Hawley will determine that spot. Gaines is 2-0 in the FVC and 6-1 overall. Hawley is 1-2 in the FVC and 7-8 overall. Finally, Jeff Greany will wrestle at the 185 spot with a 1-2 conference record and 13-9 overall. The McHenry swimming team raised its record to 4-5 with a 112-46 win over Zion-Benton. Greg Karczynski. led the Warriors with two first places. Karcynski took first in the 50- yard freestyle in 25.20 and a first in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.45. Karczynski also was a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that took a first in 4:07.56. Other members of the relay team were Mike Hemker, Chris Schreiner and Greg Hall. The 200-yard medley relay team also took a first. Brian Hoffman, Guy Petty, Wynveen and Steve Henshall were timed at 2:03.26. Single firsts came from Guy Petty in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:39.21, Craig Anderson in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:07.99, Greg Hall in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:44.13 and Hoffman in the 100-yard breastroke in 1:13.81. Seconds came from Schreiner in the 200-yard individual medley, Steve Henshall in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestuyle, Wynveen in the 100 butterfly and Petty in the 100- yard breastroke. - - o:;- .. Lady Skyhawks lose The. Johnsburg Lady Skyhawks dropped below .500 in the Northwest Suburban Con ference Tuesday night with a 65- 59 loss to Grayslake. The Skyhawks are now 3-4 in the NWSC and 9-5 overall. The Skyhawks led throughout the game until the fourth quarter. Johnsburg held a 44-40 advantage going into the final quarter. According to John sburg coach Nancy Fahey, rebounding was the key. "We lost to them on the boards," Fahey said. "I told the girls at halftime that is where the game would be won and lost. They (Johnsburg) weren't aggressive enough. Grayslake was a bigger team and that was the key." Despite the loss, the Skyhawks found another scoring threat. Lori Oeffling shared scoring honors with Theresa Hauck, both with 18. "Lori Oeffling has done a super job scoring," said Fahey. "The scoring has been much more balance. Teams have been throwing boxes and diamond on two's against us and we have had to get more scoring from the others." Michele Swartzloff followed in scoring with 10. WHAT IS A CURRENCY EXCHANGE?
