I SECTION 2 - PAGE 4 PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 1984 general •• yci ICI ai News Special Olympics concert features singer Jim Post Careful address saves broken heart If you want your Valentines to be delivered on target and on time, you can help the postal service by addressing them properly, Postmaster LeRoy Smith of McHenry Post Office said. "A return address should be the first address a person puts on an envelope," Smith and Postmaster Lorrain Murphy of Wonder Lake post office said. "If there is a delivery problem, it wiB allow us to return the letter, card or parcel to the sender." Both the return address and mailing address should contain complete address information. This includes all of the following elements that apply: full name of recipient, apartment mailbox number or apartment number, street name and number or post office box number, city, state and -very important- zip code. Smith and Ms. Murphy also urged use of legible hand writing, a ball point pen (felt tips smudge easily) and correct postage (oversized cards require extra postage). "Proper addressing is especially important around holidays such as Valentine's Day, when many people do not use their return address in order to momentarily surprise the recipient. After a sellout performance last year, singer songwriter entertainer Jim Post, will be back by popular demand to perform his wide variety of songs, wit, and humor at the Woodstock Opera House Feb. 25. Also appearing will be Friedlander and Hall with their band, and a very talented duo from Chicago Tricia Alexander and Lori Noelle, in what will be the fourth annual Concert for Special Olympics, in one show only, beginning at 8:15 p.m. Jim Post, nationally known for his high, clear, tenor voice, driving guitar rhythms, and comic vision, takes his audience on a swirling ride beyond music into what seems to be "musical theatre". After 10 albums, a top ten hit, (Reach out in the Darkness 1968) two Grammy nominations, and thousands of performances coast-to-coast, Post has built a huge following for his brand of kinetic inhibition and vocal wizardry. Jeff Friedlander and Ed Hall, with their band, will be back for the fourth consecutive year doing songs from their albums, "Utah Moon" and newly released "Chicago Style". Friedlander and Hall are known throughout the midwest as one of the' only accoustic swing bands that specialize in music from the 20's, 30's and 40's, as well as the technical ac complishment each band member displays on his respective instrument. Jeff Fiedlander fronts the band on vocals, Ed Hall plays guitar, Doug Lofstrom plays accoustic bass, and Michael Levin plays clarinet, sax, and flute. . Tricia Alexander and Lori Noelle have been delighting audiences for the last five years by combining humor and har mony. Their music repertoire ranges from original blues and boogie woogie, to refreshing and unique arrangements of pop, folk, and swing standards. Larry Kart of the Chicago Tribune refers to the duo as ..."a 1980's variation of the Smothers Brothers". WFMT-Chicago Magazine says* "This duo, either on two guitars, or guitar and piano, features strong vocal abilities, and an even stronger sense of humor; they are par ticularly adept at in terpretations of other con temporary singer-songwriters". All proceeds from this concert are donated to the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association to benefit Special Olympics in McHenry County. Tickets may be purchased at the Opera House ticket office, or by phone by Visa or Mastercard. Ticket office hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, noon through 3 p.m. on Sunday; and one hour prior to curtain time. For tickets or reservations, call, 815-338-5300.
