v » McCullom Lake: EASTER PLANS AND MISS McCULLOM LAKE CONTEST ANNOUNCED Eight ladies were present at the Feb. 1 meeting held at the beach house and plans were made for the April 14 Easter Carnival. The Egg Hunt will start the festivities at 10 a.m. outdoors, weather permitting. The Miss McCullom Lake contest will start at 11:30 a.m. There will be many games, prizes, refreshments and of course, a Cake Walk. Since refreshments did not make it down to the meeting, the ladies enjoyed candy bars left in their locker and the meeting adjourned at 10:15 p.m. GET WELL WISHES Clemencia Fernandez recently returned home from the Harvard hospital after having surgery. She stated that her stay in the hospital was made much easier by a nurse, < Peggy Burg, whose family still lives here in the village. It was so nice to see a familiar and friendly face. We wish Clemencia a full and speedy recovery. Speedy recovery wishes are also sent to Laurie Gleeson. Laurie was recently hospitalized after an auto accident. We hope you are resting comfortably at home by the time you read this, Laurie. CLERK'S HOURS iThe village clerk's office hours will be extended to three days a week through April. The hours will be Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 2 through 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. through 1 p.m. except Feb. 11, when the office will be closed. Sticker fees are as follows: cars, $10; A,B or RV license plates, $15; C-D license plates, $30; and E and over license plates, $100. Lakeland Park : FURNACE CAUSES HOME FIRE Saturday, Jan. 29, was sup­ posed to be a quiet day off from work for Lin Dentro but it turned out just the opposite. We were talking on the phone discussing that we should brave the snow and head for the grocery store when her house suddenly filled with smoke. As she called the fire department, everyone in the Cominsky house hurried to put on boots and jackets to go lend a hand. Duchess, the dog, was first to leave with Samantha, the hamster, following. Lin made a mad dash to save all her income tax records and the very im­ portant refund forms. Before we knew it, the fire department arrived to handle the situation. The problem was in the furnace filter and in a matter of minutes everything was under control.
