It is their 20th annual Hobo Show. The show is an hour of songs, skits and jokes. This year the show will be titled Memories and will include many of the favorite numbers from the past 19 years. There will be three shows this year. Tlie first show on March 2 will be at 7 p.m. The second and third show will be March 3 at 5:30 and 8. Before each show the Hobos personally serve a delicious dinner of beef stew, potatoes, salad, roll, cupcakes and ice cream sundaes. Evelyn Heinz St. John the Baptist Church of Johnsburg welcomed the Rev. John C. Holdren Nov. 30, as its new pastor assigned by the Most Rev. Arthur J. O'Neill, Bishop of Rockford, to serve the in­ creasing needs of the Catholic population of Johnsburg, Illinois, which encompasses more than 1,100 families. Father Holdren will con- celebrate a * special Mass of Thanksgiving Sunday, February 19, at 2 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg, where he will be officially in­ stalled by the newly named dean of McHenry County, the Rev. Andrew Plesa, pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Cary. The public is cordially invited to share in the festivities of the Mass celebration as well as the testimonial reception to be held at the Johnsburg Community Club immediately following the Eucharistic celebration. The Foresters organization, the Home and School group and the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality will be hosts to this special celebration as the new pastor is installed. REV. HOLDREN Father Holdren served as deacon at our Lady of Good Counsel in Aurora in 1970. He was ordained a priest May 30, 1971, and celebrated his first Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Aurora. He was assigned on June 23, of that year to St. Rita of Cascia, Aurora, as associate pastor, where he served for two years. During that time, he was chaplain of the NAIM organization, started a youth group which won the Mayor's Youth Award for two years, and taught at Aurora Central Catholic High School. On June 21, 1973, he was assigned to St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Crystal Lake as associate pastor. There he taught at Marian Central Catholic High School and started several organizations such as the Keen-Agers, the Youth Life Group, and the Young Singles Club which serves McHenry County, the Newman Club at McHenry County College, Calix organization which is a sup­ plement of Alcoholics Anonymous, and the Divorced, Separated, and Remarried Catholic group. He served as moderator for the Apostolic Commission at St. Thomas Parish that publicizes "God's Open Window", which is still in existence today, a newsletter for shut-ins. He also was instrumental in supporting a Laotion family that arrived in Crystal Lake. He served on the Ministerial Association, was appointed chaplain for the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women for McHenry County and was fhapljiin for the Knights ̂ of Columbus Father McCormick Council No. 3880. He formed the Knights of the Altar organization at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. In 1977 the McHenry County Bar Association presented him with the annual Law Day Award for his outstanding contribution to the community. In January, 1980, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Crystal Lake Jaycees, and was named in February, 1980, as one of the top 10 young men of the year by the Illinois Jaycees. On Feb. 15, 1980, he was assigned as associate pastor of St. Peter's Church in Geneva, 111. where he started several groups including the Keen- Agers, the Knights of the Altar, and Daughters of Mary. He served as Chaplain for the Columbian Council until his recent appointment to his first pastorate at St. John the Baptist Parish. All new members had a spon­ soring family who accompanied them in worship and during the introduction of the new mem­ bers to the congregation. Pastor Roger Schnedier presented the new members with Certificates of Church membership. All of the new members stood in a receiving line at the door of the church to be greeted by the members of the church. Orientation sessions for new members will be available at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. each Sunday on Feb. 12, 19 and 26 to provide an opportunity for any6tw\6 receive nn overview of the basic teachings of the Lutheran Church.
