SECTION 2 - PAGE 4 - PLAINDEALER WEDNESDAY. FEBRUARY 29, 1984 Neighbors W Wonder Lake: BAND, CHORUS WIN MEDALS Lakeland Park: VACCINATE YOUR DOG McHenry County Animal Control officers are busy right now making sure all the dogs in our area are vaccinated against rabies. There have been some rabid skunks found nearby. Every house in Lakeland Park is being approached to first see if a dog lives there, then to make sure they have a current tag. Cats are not required by law to be vaccinated and licensed but it would be a good idea to protect your cat also. If your pet has had its shot, there is no need to worry about it catching rabies. JTHREE GIRLS NOW Jan. 31 was the day Len and Maria Sieracki became parents of their third daughter. The 6 lbs. 15 oz. infant was named Nicole Rene after her arrival in Woodstock hospital. The Sieracki's older daughters are eight and a half-year-old Dawn; and Kim. who is four and a half. BLUE BUNDLE Isaiah Michael Beyer weighed a healthy 9 lbs. 13 oz. at birth, Feb. 8. His proud parents are Richard and Charlene, and his siblings are six-year-old Ian, four-year-old Brittany and Ashley, age two. FEELING POORLY When you ask Lisa Cominsky now ner fifteenth birthday was on Feb. 23, her answer is "rotten." Hie flu virus going around hit her the week before her birthday; then it went into bronchitis. All the scheduled celebrations have had to be postponed until she is feeling better. I sure hope it is soon, because we want to see Lisa her usual bouncy, smiley self again. BIRTHDAY WISHES Ruth Roach is celebrating her birthday this Leap Year on Feb. 29. Dorothy Meineke, Butch Brunow, Marty Nuss and Louis Arroyo add another year on March 1. March 2 is Grace Campo's and Jimmy Taylor's special day. Best wishes to Robin Leone and Elvira Cuevas on the 3rd. A special lady, Fleda Rogers, shares her birth date, March 4, with Marge Mercure, Pat Brunow and Alma Piritz. Terri Nuss, Steve Brunow and Carol Scarbrough hear the birthday song on the 6th. ANNIVERSARIES Ray and Tee Bujack are celebrating their forty-eighth wedding anniversary March 1. It will be 43 years of together ness for Carmen and Virginia Hodges, March 2. The 39 band and chorus students listed below are from Harrison School, who recently participated in the solo and ensemble contest at Avon Center School, Saturday, Feb. 18. They gathered a total of 78 medals, of which there were 18 for a perfect rating; 38 awarded for a superior score; and 22 for an excellent rating. Miss Marilyn McGuire is the vocal music instructor at Harrison and Tom Rome is the Anne Sowers 653-9549 instrumental music instructor. Both are very pleased with the results of this contest and both praise the students for their diligence. The students must practice many hours to achieve success. Staff members and parents of students were the piano ac companists and their help was appreciated by all. Wonder Lake can be very proud of these fine young musicians. The 39 students include Chad Adams, Dawn Beutjer, Kathy Brandt, Christine Brandt, Michelle Brisinte, Amy Dawson, Nancy Diederich, Diane Etten, Kendra Fehringer, Emily Fornwall, Lara Hayward, Ellen Howe, Samantha Iodice, and Kim Jones. Also, Debbie Katzenberger, Ingrid Kjaer, Missy Lermer, Kathleen McHally, Angela Moore, Cindy Mueller, Gina Mure, Mika Nelson, Karlene Olesuk, Kerri Price, Dixie Richter, Sandra Romero, Tina Schmidt, Nicky Spears, Chris Stolle, Amy Stolle, Caryn Terrell, Michelle Ttornton, Kari Van Kanegan, Bryan Walley, Mark Walsh, Chris Welch, Julie Wenzler, David White, and Samantha Wright. CARD PARTY Sunday, March 11, is the date set for a St. Patrick's Day card party sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Co. I Fire Dept. In the past, their annual card party has been held on a Friday evening, but this year, being on a Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m., the ladies are hoping to see many family groups attend. It will also be easier for the senior citizens who find it difficult to go out in the evenings. Start gathering your friends together and make plkns to attend. It doesn't matter what game you playr even board games would be fine, just as long as you have fun and help out the auxiliary in their wor thwhile endeavors. SCHOLARSHIPS Applications are available at all the local high schools, McHenry County College, and from chairman, Neva Boyce, for the woman's club scholarships. Two $400 scholarships will be awarded to Wonder Lake students planning to be full-time students this fall. The ap plications must be returned by April 16, so pick one up soon. SPECIAL DAYS In re-checking my list from last week, I noticed someone I missed. "Happy Birthday" to one of our'Wonder Lake bowling pros, Judy Graff, who celebrated her birthday Feb. 28. You know what they say about March -- if it comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb, or vice-versa. Whichever way it comes in, Jim Hearity will enjoy the day since it's his birthday March 1. GET WELL Charlie Stauffer is still letting us McHenry shoppers down by not giving us his friendly sup port. Come on, Charlie, we need you back and miss you very much. WOODSTOCK CALL TODAY 815-338-1296 Corner of Old Route 14 6 47 Woodstock, Illinois A few concerned residents attended the Feb. 14 board meeting. The topic was trees, and these residents were upset about the removal of trees along the roadside. The trees were cut down because of being a hazard on the right-of-ways. Some residents believe that the trees were a beautiful part of the landscape and not a hazard. During communications, a motion was made and seconded to appoint a new village at torney, Richard J. Short. His resume was very good, along with smaller legal fees quoted than our past village attorneys. The next meeting will be Feb. 28. Why not plan on attending? BASEBALL The Beach Gals are thinking of sponsoring little league teams this spring for the residents of McCullom Lake. Any interested boys and girls, age seven and up, call Linda Bacon at 385-7415, and let's play ball. Hie 1965 vehicle stickers must be pur chased and displayed by March 31, or you may receive a ticket which could add up to $50. Remember, I need the year, make and license plate number of each vehicle you are pur chasing a sticker for, and ail of that information is on your registration card. There are also seven boat posts left. The fee for the season is $7. GET WELL WISHES We wish Dave Scarbrough a full and speedy recovery from his recent illness.
