Hie date was the midpoint of Agriculture Week, which runs from March 16 to 22. Hie purpose of Agriculture Day, first celebrated 11 years ago, is to recognize the farmers, ranchers, horticulturalists and aquaculturalists who produce the hundreds of agricultural commodities, as well as to provide a forum for educating others about the industry's working needs. "The magnitude of agriculture's role in the total economy must be understood and appreciated by a!l if we are ever to have economic and agricultural policies that solve real problems rather than perpetuate myths at the same time people are going out of business," said Adrian Polansky, chairman of the board of the Agriculture Council of America. Agricultural Day is a nationwide tribute to the entire food and agricultural system and an opportunity for the public to focus on its central im portance to the economy. Mixing business with pleasure, successfully, is a rare blending, but McHenry's Trade Fair is one of those rare blen- dings. In an atmosphere laced with costumed characters presenting prizes to guests, a world of specialized information on a multitude of topics is available for the asking. March 30, 31 and April 1 are the dates for the blending of fun and information at Parkland School at the corner of Rt. 120 and Ringwood Road. With no admission charge and hundreds of prizes being given away continually, every resident of every age can only come away a winnfer, in many respects, by attending the Trade Fair. Included in this world of in formation are many personal types: Personal needs for food, fashion and finances too will be demonstrated, displayed and detailed. And the medical mission will be there in force with testing, equipment and health tips. Trade Fair Food for thought and food for body both will be there: Samples galore for the palate and for the brain. From super markets to convenience centers, from bakeries to delis, tidbits will be plentiful. From the local county colleges to world-wide en cyclopedias and vitamins to help jog the brain, the intellect will be addressed. Special education for those needs are such also brings special services to businesses. Industries are often taken for granted. Ttiis is the time and place to become aware of their products and their employment opportunities. At the Trade Fair one can inquire about what's happening in government. The aldermen, the senators, the legislators and more will join this jamboree of information by the score. And the social needs of residents are not being ignored. Many organizations will be on hand with members of their boards. The Fair makes a worthy showing of what one community can do to keep the economy going. The Economic Development Commission does much more than a simple brochure offers and Trade Fair is the place to ask just what that is. Murder trial date set for May 21 By Angela Burden Plaindealer news service Judge Jack Hoogasian set May 21 as a trial date for murder suspect Ira Lee, who is charged with the 1982 Woodstock stabbing death of Steven Feldt. Hoogasian, the chief judge of the 19th Judical Circuit, will hear the case in McHenry County Circuit Court in Woodstock. Recently in Lake County court, he denied a defense motion that would have compelled a state witness, who was not identified, to testify. He also set April 26 as the date he will hear pre-trial motions. Lee, 32, is charged in the stabbing death of Steven Feldt, a 29-year-old auto mechanic. Besides the murder charge, Lee is also charged with home in vasion, armed violence and arson in connection with the August 1982 death of Feldt, who was found in his Burbank Avenue apartment on Aug. 17, 1982. Lee was arrested by Woodstock police and McHenry County sheriffs police in Oc tober 1983 in Woodstock. This morning in Waukegan, McHenry County State's At torney Theodore Floro told the court he expected the trial to last about two weeks. Hoogasian is hearing the case because he is the only available judge left after defense counsel twice received a change of judges.
