For the taxpayers who have yet to file, help is standing by at the Department of Revenue. A new taxpayer assistance strategy designed to decen­ tralize department information sources will allow individuals to find answers to their tax questions closer to home, ac­ cording to Revenue Director J. Cardiac seminar offered In April, Northern Illinois Medical Center (McHenry - Hospital) will sponsor a course in "Advanced Cardiac Life Support. The course is offered in cooperation with the Medical Emergency Ser­ vices Association and the American Heart Association. T h e c o u r s e teaches the car­ diac care provider how to recognize critical heart rhyth­ ms and correct them before death occurs. A certificate as a provider of Ad­ vanced Cardiac Care is awarded to physicians, nurses and paramedics who successfully complete the three- d a y c o u r s e . Renewal is required every two years. Adelines compete in Joliet T h e C h a i n O'Lakes chapter of Sweet Adelines is "getting its act together" and taking it on the road to the Rialto Theater in Joliet, March 23-24. Joliet is the site of the annual regional chorus and quartet competition for Region 3 and some 1,000 Sweet Adelines will fill the town with barbershop harmony. Quartet com­ petition will take place March 23 at 7 p . m . C h o r u s competition is slated for March 24, from noon to 4 p.m. Finalists will perform Saturday evening on the "Show of Cham­ pions" at 8 p.m. All shows are open to the public. Last film in series presented The third and final presentation in the wildlife film series at the Woodstock Opera House is slated for March 25 at 2 p.m. Arthur Twomey will present his film, "Saguaro County," a look at the flora and fauna of the Sonora Desert in Arizona. The new strategy, Johnson explained, will incorporate greater participation by Revenue field office personnel in tfce department's taxpayer assistance program. "Personnel in each of the department's field offices have been specifically trained to answer virtually any question a bewildered taxpayer may have," Johnson said. "And of course we still will be offering taxpayer assistance at both the Tax Processing Center in Springfield and at the State of Illinois building in Chicago." The Department of Revenue has 14 field offices located throughout tbe state. Taxpayers can find assistance in Rockford, Wauconda, Peoria, Rock Island, West Chicago, Chicago, Champaign, Springfield, Fairview Heights, Marion, , Evergreen Park, DesPl*ines and Broadview. Assistance via telephone »l«n will be available for the hearing iropared with access to a telecommunications device. Those dialing 217-785-4270 will be connected to the departments teletypewriter which is used both to receive and transmit messages. Individuals lacking access to a similar device should check the nearest county or municipal building, many of which are equipped with the machines. Von Oepen of 7155 Johnsburg Road, Spring Grove, has been ap­ pointed a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. The new non-commissioned officer completed training in management, in leadership, human relations and NCD responsibilities, before being awarded this status. Von Oepen is a postal specialist in Kalkar, West Germany, with the 7025th Air Postal Squadron. The sergeant is a 1977 graduate of Richmond Burton Community High School.
