Loose black mesh panel details saper-wide kimono top. Punk to ethnic THE TRADITIONAL elegance of traditional Paris con? tare is seen in Louis Feraud's spring salt of off-white linen, with rippling gored skirt. The classically tailored open Jacket is bordered in diamond cnt-oots showing the taupe blouse beneath. (Photos by David Gould.) World'fashion diversity thrives By Florence De Santis NEW YORK (NEA) - Fashion today reflects the world with all its bewilder ing diversity. Once all trends radiated from Paris, but last year's Japanese look showed how far we could go for innovation. Paris is accepting world influence, too, with many of its young adopting London's "punk" look: long black capes, suspenders over T- shirts, black boots or white sneakers, 1940s men's hair styles and bizarre makeup. This "street" influence was given a special show at IGEDO, the huge interna tional fashion fair held in Dusseldorf, West Germany. Young designers ignored national boundaries to join in a group called "Die Strasse" (The Streets). They came from France, Italy, West Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Antibes, Ibiza and faraway Singapore. This new school mixes street, ethnic and even space-age influences, usual ly in natural fiber fabrics. L'Innocent of Paris uses off- white cotton in a trio of capri pants, loose top and big shawl-collared coat, adding a mesh head scarf to create a Moroccan flavor. Cori Moreni, the Singa pore entry, works terry velour in black and white panels for a skinny skirt and wide kimono-sleeve top with a single loose black mesh overpanel. Her contour belt and headband in silver sticks lends a space-age accent. The Italians are playing things cool for spring. They like a soft but cleanly shaped look, such as Soprani's lean, long, navy wool jacket over an ivory circular skirt, or Armani's double print in a gathered linen skirt in big white leaves traced on blue with a plaid cotton gauze blouse. Always good at prints, the Italians at IGEDO showed a lot of fresh, pretty dresses. Memi Reina of Como had a silk red and beige diamond print dress with a wide-top, shirred bateau neckband and a one-half beige bodice and beige sash above the slit skirt. The tradition of couture, with its emphasis on beauti ful fabrics, exquisite finish and citified elegance in design, still reigns in both Italy and Paris. Gianni Versace, Gianfranco Ferre and Laura Biagiotti are among Italian designers bringing a simple, light look to the United States this spring. Paris designer Louis Feraud's U.S. collection is based on off-white and played against taupe in a soft suit with the open jack et bordered in diamond cut outs to show the taupe of the blouse beneath, or mixed with yellow and green in purely tailored separates for work and leisure. Special fashions today often come from unexpected sources. Finland's Silo Oy creates a new look in rainwear, with pants and a poncho coat in black and copper poplin. West German firms have developed a wide variety in dresses, such as Kuhlbach of Cologne's khaki poplin with under-sleeves and bodice panel of white mesh, a red belt and ring- held tape for. the rolled upper sleeves. Only $140,000 BEAUTY DIGEST Diane Robbens Physically fit Actress Judy Landers told Beauty Digest what her favorite form of exercise was recently: "I guess you'd call me a physical fitness nut because I've tried almost every exercise plan and I like em all! Generally, I do an hour of aerobics eve ry morning before work, and when I get a chance I go jogging. I don't feel good about myself if I'm not exercising regularly, and the more I do, the more I like myself." Perm frizz Sometimes home perms turn ftito frizz city. But there's a simple cure for that. Take the waving solu tion from your home perm kit and mix with an equal amount of shampoo. Pour over your hair and comb it through with a large-tooth comb. Let it sit for no more than two minutes and then rinse. Next shampoo and condition as you normally would and the end result will be frizz free and soft- looking hair. Earring tips Did you know that ear rings can do more than just look good? Yes indeed! They can flatter your facial struc ture and even take attention away from flaws. If you wear your earrings on a diagonal, jutting towards your face, they will enhance your cheekbones. If you have a round or square face avoid horizontal. Pick ear rings that are longer than they are wide -- drop ear rings are a good choice. If your face is a long oval, go for chunky button earrings or fan shape earrings that add width. Avoid drop ear rings or any that give a ver tical look. (NEW?' APER ENTERPRISE ASSN ) *~$/iand VjteniriaczQ 72 Real Estate For Sale SEE US AT THE TRADE FAIR!
